Dandelion Coffee

I’ve wanted to make Dandelion coffee for ages now and I finally gave it a go. Dandelions are a super super food and great for circulation and digestion.

Honestly though making this coffee is a lot of hard work for a small result. I definitely didn’t expect one cup of coffee to be this labour intensive and i can now see why people just buy the packs lol

First you have to dig up the dandelions, this in itself is a huge feat when you don’t have the right tools. Also even though we have a big garden I probably wiped out half the dandelion supply in these two cupS. I think I probably used about 30 roots for these two cups.

Once collected you wash them thoroughly then chop into small pieces. Then I popped them in a dehydrator for a few hours to dry then roasted them for 15 minutes in the oven. After that you mix with some water and cardamom pods and cinnamon and boil in a pan till it somewhat resembles coffee.

It did taste ok and surprisingly like coffee and it’s healthy but it really is just a lot of work and I think after a week you would struggle to have dandelions unless you had a huge source near you.
