After The War is a beat'em up game for Amstrad, among other systems, published by Dinamic in 1989.
In 2019, the streets of Manhattan have been devastated by a terrible nuclear war. Radiation and food shortages have left only the strongest standing. Jonathan "Jungle Rogers" is one of them.
The only chance to escape this hell is via a launch pad at Professor McJerin's base, but the desperate survivors and the defenses of the scientist's complex are not going to make our escape any easier.
Our journey begins in the city center, armed only with our fists and kicks, with the initial objective of reaching the entrance to the McJerin underground base, located at one of the subway entrances.
The vagabonds in the area will attack us with the intention of killing us and robbing us. Luckily, the influence of the radiation is still very strong, so they will be quite weakened and should not be a match for us.
After leaving the center we will walk under the Manhattan Bridge, a place full of warehouses and car junkyards. Now the opponents are stronger and more dangerous, and some have even obtained guns with which to assault us.
On the outskirts of Manhattan we will reach the subway entrance, but not before having to defeat colossal rivals of great strength. Only with great mastery of hand-to-hand combat will we be able to reach our first objective.
In the suburban train tunnels we will face automated defenses, but fortunately we are now equipped with a powerful machine gun with unlimited ammunition, and the possibility of taking cover from enemy fire.
The McJerin complex is the last step towards our salvation, heavily guarded to prevent the access of all kinds of intruders. Colossal war machines will do everything possible to prevent us from leaving there alive.
