Turbo Out Run is a racing game for the Arcade, published by Sega in 1989.
We take part in a race across the United States behind the wheel of our Ferrari F40, with a stunning blonde in the passenger seat.
On our way to victory, we'll face fierce rival drivers, the police themselves, and harsh weather conditions.
In our favor, we have our driving skills and a powerful turbo booster, which, when used wisely, can make a difference in the competition...
The race runs from New York to Los Angeles, with a total of sixteen stages divided into four sessions. Our main objective is to beat the clock, but we must also stay ahead of a tough rival at the controls of a Porsche 911. The first to beat each stage will take the blonde as co-pilot.
The Ferrari F40 has an engine that allows it to reach high speeds, tires that grip the asphalt firmly, and a propeller that increases its power considerably. We can also choose between automatic or manual gearboxes.
The turbo causes the engine to overheat, so we can only use it for a few seconds. After passing each sector we can change one of these three components and thus improve the performance of the car in the race.
We will cross a wide variety of scenarios, both day and night: fields, cities or deserts, and we will face harsh weather conditions, such as rain, snow and even sandstorms. Not to mention the legendary tunnels and changes in elevation that are the trademark of the company.
