Worldbuilding Prompt- Frustration

"Do you know what really grinds my gears?" Said John's boss in the line supervisor's office. "You're so behind on the quality reports it's making me look bad."

John had been an aerospace assembler at his current company for fifteen years, and his new manager took the cake for the worst he had ever had. Prior to Jake, his current boss, he had a laid back and "big picture boss" who was simple enough to predict. Seven months ago, Jake waltzed in wearing a suit Blazer and tie. John knew his last back hours in production were over.

John's frustration increased as Jake took the reigns on his production line. John worked on an aircraft feeder line, and Jake focused with granularity on KPIs and metrics. Little did John know, but Jake had been called in by Industrial Engineering to move the feeder line to another supplier for cost savings. Making John's life Hell for 50-hours a week was a biproduct of that fact.

John spent his hours working on the line with drills and fasteners. His job was to secure lines and fasten sub-assemblies together. Jake's job was to document the time it took to do his job, watch and document the quality report and generally be a pest. Jake had never even worked in aerospace or manufacturing before, and it showed. John was pestered about his protective gear, work ethic and process. Every step and daliance was scrutinized by a guy who had never worked the line, and half of his recommendations fell flat after grueling hours of work.

John made his way to the time clock ona Friday. Jake was waiting there. "Let's talk about the quality report on Monday because there are some things I am very concerned about.". That was it. No "have a good weekend" and no concern for John outside of being a factor of production. "Two days until this shit starts again", he thought to himself. Two days.
