Poem 47: Dressed for Battle

Dressed for Battle

When challenges were to be told,
I had a suit, covering me;
like the wisdom of Solomon.

When challenges made me cold,
I had a sooth, picturing me;
like the affairs of David.

When challenges became bold,
I had a soot, blindfolding me;
like the blindness of Samson.

When challenges wanted me sold,
I had a stealth, unseeing me;
like the garment of Joseph.

When challenges got so old,
I had a suite, uplifting me;
like the chariots of Elijah.
