This is the testimony of our Lord Jesus concerning John the baptist: John 5:33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
The witness of John was so one that burns and shines. This is also how the witness of the believer in Christ ought to be, we are meant to be burning a shining light in our world.
Every believer must desire the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire as spoken about our Lord Jesus: Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.
We need the witness of the burning and shining light because without fire the works of darkness will continue to thrive, without fire we will only be practicing a cold convictionless religio, without fire there wouldn't be any prove that we are serving a living God who is a consuming fire.
Everyone who wants and desires to raise the banner of Zion in this wicked and dark world must do so as a burning and shining.
