Sin

Sin is first of all a nature before it's an act. It is a nature that opposes and is contrary to the nature of God. A man many be good, moral and even religious, that doesn't change the fact that he is a sinner. As long as that sin nature have not been dealt with, he still remains a sinner. This is the reason why God had to send apostle Peter to go preach the gospel to Cornelius even though he was a good man and feared God yet he was still not a member of the household of God due to the sin nature. What happened when we believe in finished work of Christ is that the death of Christ is imputed upon us, and as such the judgement of God for sin which is death was meted out on us as it was on Christ. When we died, sin was destroyed and it's power over us; and just as Christ rose from the dead, even so we raised with Christ with a new life, a life free from sin and it's corruption. This is what it means to be born again. Now every believer in Christ is free from the power of sin, he or she can no longer be bound by sin, for in hm, through the finished work on the cross, sin have been crucified and judged. The believer is now admonished to walk in the newness of life – a life of Righteousness and true Holiness, and this we do by the grace of God.
