Strive to Enter

Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Our Lord Jesus used the word strive to indicate to us the posture that we must always maintain if we must enter in the gate of heaven. Many wouldn't be able to enter it because they want to seek the kingdom out of convenience. They are not willing to make any sacrifice whatsoever for the course of the kingdom of heaven.

We must strive because the flesh will always want to pull us back to the world and sin, and as such, we must strive against it daily(Hebrews 10:38, 1 Cor 9:27, Jude 1:23)

We must strive because the powers of darkness are working tirelessly to make sure that the world is drunken with the wine of the fornication of babylon. We must strive to keep ourselves sober and vigilant and not to give in to the slumber and lasciviousness. The wind of slumber is blowing and a lot are sleeping while they should be watching and praying.

We must strive by all means against sin (Heb 12:4) for nothing defiled will enter the kingdom of heaven (Rev 21:27). We must strive to maintain purity of heart and soul in a world full of defilement, for only the pure in heart will see God.

We must strive to keep ourselves from distractions; for as we journey, there will come lots and lots of distractions from the enemy to make us step out of the race and to pursue after vanity. We must not care about what people will say or do to us as long as we are in right standing with God and are at the center of His will. There will be persecutions, trials, false witnesses, backbiting, slenderizing, seduction, vain glory; all these things are nothing more but distractions.

Dear beloved, strive to enter, no matter the cost, strive. Endure the pain of striving now, for it will not be forever. Make the necessary sacrifices, deny self, take up the cross, follow the Holy Spirit, strive against sin!
Shortly but surely, we will enter our rest when the our Lord wilk come again to receive us. Do not be weary, do not faint.
James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
