Small things can be the beginning of something bigger? Let's update the blurt node map.

A message to all witnesses. Maybe you are aware that we have such a nice map here? :)

@saboin recently made me realize that whether someone is displayed here or not depends on the location set in the profile. It's such a small thing, but maybe we can make sure that this map is more up-to-date. My suggestion is that each witness should set the location where they currently have a server so that we can see how our network looks.

People who have a full node should set the location with the exact city where it is.

Why is this?

Firstly, so that we can make a nice presentation of our network and show its strength. Such a change of location takes 2 minutes and the effect can be nice. Secondly, we will be able to see how our network looks in terms of potential delays. As you know, the geolocation of full nodes in relation to other nodes translates into how quickly blocks are processed and what the delays are. It would be worth considering a more strategic arrangement of servers to increase stability.

Thirdly, it's a matter of an idea I had recently, which I presented on the matrix chat:

So I was thinking about what we have on blurt that could be used to create something useful and I came up with two ideas. I'm already implementing the first one and will announce it soon, the second one below:

Listen, there are quite a few of us witnesses scattered all over the world, and the vps and servers are located in various interesting locations. None of these servers are fully busy. I thought that we could use this additionally and create our own blurt CDN network for domains and other services. We could sell access to such a service for BLURT and divide the funds obtained in this way equally between all the witness accounts whose users have joined this service.

Creating the CDN network itself and configuring it is not particularly difficult. The most demanding would be to create a service that offers the possibility of purchasing such a service for blurts and distributes the funds obtained in this way among the connected users of the blurt network.

Few people have commented on this idea and it would be worth checking what potential we have in this area.

My heartfelt request to all witnesses is to set your locations to the cities in which you currently have servers and people who have a full node if they could also let us know in the comments where it would be great.

I also strongly encourage you to discuss what you think about the idea of using our network as a cdn as well?

Come on witnesses, get your personal settings filled out : P

Oh there oh there only the server location :D

Just a little tip. It's worth choosing large cities next to small ones because I see that the small ones don't fit.

I think it has to do with the format more than the size of the city. I have mine set to a village, but it shows up. It needs to be written as if you’re searching for it on Google Maps.

For example, I have my location set to Beaubassin East, NB, Canada.

Oh, I didn't realize there was another Canadian user... let alone yourself. Cool, I'm in BC up by the Alaskan border.
