Bendera-bendera Plastik di Sawah - Plastic Flags in the Rice Fields

Kemarin habis antar pesanan GoFood, saya melihat di pojok perkampungan yang terletak di pinggiran kota ada hal yang menarik bagi saya. Ada bendera-bendera plastik yang dipasang di sebuah sawah yang berkibar terkena angin yang berhembus disana.

Yesterday after delivering a GoFood order, I saw something interesting in the corner of a village located on the outskirts of the city. There were plastic flags installed in a rice field that fluttered in the wind blowing there.

Bendera-bendera plastik itu mengingatkan pada masa kecil saya, orang-orang pemilik atau penggarapnya memasang bendera atau orang-orangan untuk mengusir burung-burung yang akan memakan biji-biji padi.

The plastic flags remind me of my childhood, when the owners or farmers would put up flags or scarecrows to scare away birds that would eat the rice grains.

Sekarang pemandangan tersebut mulai jarang dilihat di pinggiran kota, karena tergantikan oleh bangunan-bangunan atau kompleks perumahan dan pertokoan. Kalaupun itu ada letaknya agak jauh dari pinggiran area kota atau bahkan sudah masuk ke wilayah pedesaan. (hpx)
