Frank Penny is a character who feels useless because of the mistakes he made in his profession and loses all his reputation in society. After losing his job, he plays a cop on his own. In the 2019 movie Line of Duty, this character, who is the protagonist of the movie, goes on a hot and action-packed adventure with the vlogger he takes with him, and I can say that the audience has a good time.
When I read the story of the movie, I must admit that I expected a mediocre movie, but after watching the movie; I can say that it was not like that at all. I think that the people who make the ratings are looking for reality in movies and are biased against fantasy, fiction and exaggerated action productions. The character of Frank Penny is a man who has carried a wrong he did for years on his back and is now tired. Although he has tried to turn over a new leaf in his life many times, each time he has failed to achieve his goal because of a repeated setback.
When we focus on the big picture in the story of the movie, we can see that things have turned around, but we see that this turnaround is not easy at all with the reflections of the character, which I found successful. I can say that Aaron Eckhart, who gives life to the character of Frank Penny, did a very good job.
What I couldn't make sense of in the character the actor portrays is that someone who is already infamous for his mistakes knows the mistakes he has made and persistently continues despite this. I think the fact that he included a vlogger in the dangerous path he was on spoiled the story of the movie. It gave the impression that he was looking for a witness with him in everything he did and that he was supporting his witness in the videos.
The fact that most of the scenes of the movie were broadcast live on the internet by vloggers did not add any value to the movie, and I can say that it took away the mystery and excitement of the movie. From this point of view, the movie could be considered a failure, but overall, it was very successful. Personally, I didn't like the presence of the vlogger in the movie, but there will be those who like it.
The integrity of the story and the connection with the main character's past mistakes added to the pleasure of watching the movie. The key point was that the main character killed the only witness who could reach the girl who was kidnapped and kept in a box slowly filling with water. This detail harmonized the adventure and thrill aspect of the movie with the action.
One of the teachings of the movie is that when you give society your point of view on anything, it will have no trouble finding someone to lynch and can be manipulated as desired. After all, not everyone walks around with a vlogger shooting videos to prove their innocence.
I suggest you watch the movie Line of Duty, I think it deserves to be rated much higher than it is. You can enjoy it more if you ignore a few shortcomings, or what I see as shortcomings may be a plus for you. The action aspect of the movie was also very good.
