Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile, in which a character who is a master of manipulation shows unbelievable personality changes, was simply amazing.
Between 1974 and 1978, it was a great pleasure to watch the incredible personality changes of a crime machine involved in more than 30 cases of murder and rape. Although he confessed to about 30 of his crimes, it is believed that in reality the number was much higher.
It is unbelievable that someone who was involved in so many crimes could be so positive and consistent in real life. When I watched the movie, I must admit that I believed until the very end that he was innocent, and the confession he wrote on a fogged glass was really chilling. That scene will remain the most memorable scene of Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile for me.
The movie has two main characters. The way these two characters, who are in love with each other, reflect the tides they go through was extremely successful. Feeling the contradictions experienced by the character Liz Kendall (played by Lily Collins), who managed to successfully portray a person's conscience reckoning to the extreme, was, in my opinion, the most dramatic moments of the movie.
If I feel sorry for any character in a movie, it should definitely be Liz Kendall and anyone else going through similar things. From a person's self-blame, to the feeling of being late and regret for not doing what is necessary, to what they ignore because of the love they feel; it depicts it so successfully that it is hard not to admire it.
The character of Ted Bundy (played by Zac Efron) was surprisingly successful and impressive with his constant denial and strong personality despite all the crimes he committed. What I liked most about the character is that he is manipulative and always comes up with arguments that support his thesis. His cold-blooded attitude makes you wonder if he is telling the truth while watching the movie. And believe me, I thought he might be innocent until the confession scene.
Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile had a story and story processing that deeply affected people. When you watch the movie, you are affected to the extent that you can question even those closest to you. Again, the character of Liz Kendall was the one I felt the most sorry for. While she could have been one of the victims, the fact that she was the one who made the truth come out; was the most important teaching of the movie on the audience.
I highly recommend watching the movie, you have to see step by step what happened and the cold-bloodedness and manipulative approaches of a serial killer. Another thing you have to see is that when a person is torn between his head and his heart, the path he has to follow is the values he believes in. Conscience sooner or later accepts what is right, as long as we do not fail to make the judgment of conscience.
