If there is something I will say is affecting a whole lot of people most especially the Nigeria youths, I will say it is the bad habits of procastination. One of the things that I have come to discover about procastination is not only that it murder plans, but it also even murder success also at the end of the day. I personally, I fought with procastination for a long period of time in my life before my eyes eventually opened to it.
The issue affecting a whole lot of people is the fact that they did not really see procastination as a big issue. They just see it as something that is common which everyone is actually facing and so they feel it is just the norms. One of the popular sayings that procrastinators always make is the aspect of:
"Leave it first, lemme rest. I will do it when I'm ready."
I was also in that shoe many years ago. I will set goals and what I want to achieve and at the end of the day, I will discover that I didn't achieve them. Wondering what might have been the reason, it is because I did not do the things at the early stage as of the time I should have done it. In this life, we are all together in it but our experiences differs. For some people, they are continuously fighting procrastination and for some people, they didn't see it as a big thing.
There was actually a time in my life, I was actually wondering what might be the reason why a lot of people procastinate. Whether you like it or not, a lot of people did not actually desire to procastinate and for some people, it is because of their own side of laziness that actually makes them to procastinate. Most of the reason why I strongly believe causes procastination for a whole lot of people is the fact that they are either lazy or most of them did not have the discipline to be focused with their goals.
I personally, several years ago, I have issues with procastination. There are times I should have done what I should have done but I didn't do it. It cost me. From my own personal experience, I remember the time I should have read some certain courses in school many years ago, I actually procastinate them and at the end of the day, I actually failed. It was a costly mistake then which affected my final result.
There are also instances that I have missed out on some certain financial opportunities in my life because I was thinking it was not the right time. I remember there was a particular coin my friend actually advise me to buy many years ago because he actually believe so much that the coin will do well. I was procastination it until I eventually did not buy the coin. It really affected me that at the end of the day, I was not able to make profit from it.
Over the years, I have actually come to discover that there are some improvement I have noticed in my act of procastination. There were some things I actually did that makes me to be free from those habits which I will like to talk about today. The first is to read books. I remember reading two major books that helped me to address the act of procrastination.
- Atomic Habit by James Clear
- Breaking Free From Bad Habit By Joyce Meyer.
These are the two books I read which actually helped me a whole lot to help overcome the act of procastination. Not only that, I always make sure that I break every task I want to achieve into smaller tasks. Every of my task are broken down to smaller tasks. I discover that it was easy for me to be consistent in achieving those smaller tasks than the bigger task. Not only that, I make sure that I achieve deadline to every task that I want to do.
Deadlines are really good. It helps you to stay focused and help you to be consistent to be able to achieve those goals. Of course at the end of the day, it was at first difficult but at the end of the day, it became easy for me. Now I can say I even find it hard to procastinate like before again. I will like to tell anyone reading this that you might be suffering from procrastination, you can actually be free from it.
