How Solar Energy Can Transform Remote Communities

As the world continues to evolve, we start having a lot of alternatives coming to the picture that is quite different from what we used to know it to be. Take for example in Nigeria, one of our long constant source of light is electricity. Electricity in almost every street have always been a constant challenge. The only place that is challenge free is when you are living in a very big places like Ikeja, banana island, mainland and many more.

Apart from these, if is always dangerous to have a well sustained electricity in almost every part of Nigeria. But recently, technology has make it easy to help us bring a new solution for the electricity challenge.

The solution is solar energy. Even though solar energy for many years have been around, but I believe in recent years, it has gained massive adoption unlike before. Don't get me wrong, in Nigeria, there have been several use case of alternatives to electricity. Examples like kerosene lamps and generators. Even though they helped to an extent to settle the electricity challenge, but not as effective as solar energy.

There are a whole lot of advantages that solar energy gives which those other alternatives I mentioned did not actually offer and that gives solar energy a massive edge. The first is the fact that solar energy makes electricity to be affordable as compared to other source of energy. Currently now, a lot of residents depends on solar energy to generate electricity for them because it is quite affordable. Affordable in the sense that it works with solar panels and also the batteries. And those batteries are so cheap compared to how much you might want to spend on fossil fuels.

Not only that, solar energy have less negative impact when it comes to environmental impacts. Other sources I discussed with earlier like the diesel generator, the kerosene, fossil fuel and others, most of the time, they always have a negative impact on the environment but not with solar energy. Solar energy is free from those environmental impacts which is a very great addition.

I personally, I always prefer solar energy. It is easy to use. All you just have to do is to put it to the sun, I mean the solar panel. Let it charge for some couple of hours and then you can start using it. Though the downside of it I have noticed about the use of solar panel is the fact that it is highly expensive most especially if you want to get a quality one in Nigeria. Due to the high demand of solar panel and the solar energy, there is increased number of fake products, I mean fake solar panel.

Not only that, it is not really durable for long. Probably due to the consumption of the sunlight, most of the solar panel products always spoilt at the earliest stage. Well it is still at the earliest stage of adoption and I am so sure in years to come, we will see more use case of solar energy spreading all across the world.

True, Solar energy has been a good replacement to conventional electricity. I have also been in support of it. The only drawback is that it's expensive to install and that's what demotivates many people, because it's a big investment to make
