Hello my good blurt friends!!!
I am happy to share with you a story of my life that has never and will never loose it's freshness in my memory. I will take my time to narrate every single event that played out because this will not only serve as my participation to @practicalthought contest but also as my diary for posterity reference.
It is about a life saving aid I received from an anonymous person whom I do not know till today.
This happened in 2017 during my undergraduate studies.
It was a sunny sunday and I journey from my village (olokoro in umuahia) to another local government (isialangwa north) to grace the occasion of my aunt's twin baby's dedication.
I went with my school motorcycle and the distance is about 55km and lasted within 1hour:30minutes.
The whole event went well and everyone was happy. It was drizzling, however, I felt I needed to get home before night fall so I left her house around 4pm my local time and started riding my motorcycle back home... I was a happy uncle on bike for about fifteen minutes into the journey UNTIL!!!!
I had a flat back tire at the middle of nowhere in the highway🤕😥😭 and that was when my troubles started.
I looked back and forth without knowing what next to do. I was very devastated because time was now running like someone was holding world clock and turning the minute hand as fast as possible.
At this time, the rain had increased and I was soaked with rain water.
So I managed to put on my phone data and checked my google map and discovered I was at the heart of isialangwa village which is renowned for kidnapping and money ritual killings. I honestly looked up to the heaven and called on the creator of all things to help me because it was already 5pm my local time.
I was feeling very cold but I summoned courage to drag my bike forward.
I dragged on the highway for about an hour before I got to the village junction known as isialangwa junction.
I know you might be saying how can a village be on a high way??? Everything is online you can google it. The highway ran from northern Nigeria to southern Nigeria passing through states, towns and major villages in different local governments (it is called Enugu port-Harcourt expressway way).
Let's continue!!!.
When I finally got to the junction, I asked a commercial motorcyclist where I could get a spare parts shop to buy a tube and he directed me to a nearby vulcaniser who was at the verge of closing his shop.
I begged him for almost twenty minutes to attend to me as he was moving his tools and spare parts into his container shop.
He told me he has closed and the raining cloud wasn't favourable at all.
After a few more talks about where I was headed to, he agreed to help me but charged me double the price of the tube and the price for fixing it.
Meanwhile, I had giving almost all the cash on me to my Aunt as a cash gift and by the time I got to the junction my phone battery was off, so I didn't have any means of withdrawing money through direct transfer to POS (point of service) agents.
I had only 1600 Nigerian Naira which was about 4.7$ (USD) based on 2017 naira to dollar exchange rate and I planned to use it to buy petrol at the fuel station to refill my bike tank.
The cost of motorcycle tube at that time was 500 naira and cost of fixing it was 200 naira but the vulcaniser charged me 2000 naira via emergency or perhaps to drive me away with high price. So I began another marathon of begging for him to collect the only 1600 naira I had in my pocket.
Finally, he agreed and worked on my motorcycle.
By the time he finished, it was already 8pm and t it was still raining heavily and I still had about 40km to cover before I get home.
But at this moment, I felt some relief and thanked God for fixing my motorcycle for me, my next prayer was God, please allow my remaining fuel to take me to where I can get help.
About twenty minutes into my new journey, my fuel finished and I stopped again in the middle of the highway again but this time in total darkness and under the rain with wet clothes.
This time around, I didn't feel much bad because my bike could move free without me putting much strength to drag it and the environment was far away from the renowned kidnapping and killing zone.
Now I was close to Ubakala junction which is the last local government before my local government.I tried to put on my motorcycle light and by the grace of God it worked.
I continued pushing my bike on that highway until 9:47pm which is when I got to Ubakala junction.
There I met three commercial motorcyclist wearing rain coats. I parked my bike and stood there for a while thinking of how to approach my fellow man who came out under the rain to look for money to help me with money to buy fuel for my bike.
It wasn't an easy one but I just had to summon courage because I have never been in such a begging position in my entire life.
Finally, my mind directed me to the one I felt was within my age grade.
I told the young man all my ordeal and to my greatest surprise he was very remorseful and pitied me.
He told me he has been in such a situation before and that he will help me.
This guy didn't give me money, rather he used his bike to tow mine into a nearby fuel station.
There he paid for five litres of fuel for me whereas I had begged him for only one liter so that wherever it stopped me, I will then push my bike back home.
I was so overwhelmed that I kept thanking him until he rode off with his bike.
I didn't remember to ask him his name or where I could see him again.
His face vanished from my eyes in that thick darkness and I started singing a deliverance Christian song.
I got home few minutes before 11pm that day.
Till today, his kindness is in my memory like yesterday and it has generally affected my act of giving to the poor and less privileged.
This is the major reason I have been making several donations to orphanage homes and primary schools and I posted the ones I attended with blurt tshirts during my early days on blurt. Here is some of the links of my charity post wearing blurt tshirts.

His kindness thought me that givers are the apple of Gods eyes and they never lack anything they ask from the creator of all things.
He saved me from dying prematurely and here I am today giving my testimony on Blurt.
