If I may say AirDrop is a kind of reward given to mostly active users and early users in a particular project. The reward and mostly based on the native token of that project so initially before the users will be airdropped the reward most times they might be criteria in order to fitter users from bots.
In most cases AirDrop are usually given by the projects to the users or the early adopters for free. There are different kind of AirDrop
- Standard AirDrop: this is the most simple and easiest AirDrop to get from a project where the project team will require a few criteria like first come first serve (FCFS) or submit your wallet to receive AirDrop
- Bounty AirDrop: this is a kind of AirDrop where the most active person in the community or people who will be rewarded for doing certain things. many times they are being rewarded by actively participating in task, engaging in other community activities, and most reward abased on your efforts.
- Exclusive AirDrop: this is a kind of AirDrop which is mainly been distributed to specific group like influencers early adopters and specific wallet holders. The also reward base on your contribution to the project and the impacts you have made in the community. Note that the AirDrop is not publicly given out to every user it's basically an insiders AirDrop to lower overwhelming demand and reduce the risk of market dumping.
- Raffle AirDrop: this is a kind of AirDrop where user are randomly selected and the rewarded with a reward pool sometimes based on their entry or task or XPs generated during the events. In that way winners are randomly selected.
- Retroactive AirDrop: is the kind of AirDrop where reward is being distributed to users based on their interaction with their blockchain or protocol. In some type of retroactive AirDrop users actually buy a parent chain token to interact with a protocol to gain XPs and to be able to qualify for an upcoming AirDrop.
