‼️Old thread.
Do well to read this 🧵 and dilute it as you like.
*** What is EVM?
✅ EVM in full means "Ethereum Virtual Machine"
*** What is an EVM wallet?
✅ An EVM wallet refers to a wallet that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and supports Ethereum-based tokens and smart contracts.
E.g is your METAMASK WALLET.
TRUST WALLET supports EVM compatibles also but it also supports NON-EVM compatibles.
*** What are EVM chains?
✅ These are Blockchains that are compatible with the Ethereum-based smart contracts or supports the Ethereum smart contracts.
E.g are ETHEREUM, BSC, TRON, AVALANCHE, FANTOM, KLAYTN, CANTO, CRONOS, ARBITRUM, OPTIMISM, POLYGON, CARDANO, XDEFI, HAQQ, CORE and many more.....
All this Blockchains are EVM compatible chains.
Their addresses usually mostly starts with a 0x.......
What EVM does and how it works is that;
You can copy a singular EVM address from any respective chain, (let's take your polygon address for example) and send any EVM-based token or coin into it, and you'll find that coin or token in its respective chain.
E.g
you sent me your polygon address to give you MATIC, (📌which is the native coin of polygon chain 📌), if you also need Eth, BNB, or probably Core. You don't have to go back to your wallet, and also to your BNB, Eth or Core chain to copy their various addresses.
*** Why is that?
Because they're all EVM compatible addresses.
And the polygon address you gave to me is the same with the rest of them. Only that when I send various EVM-based tokens or coins (BNB, Eth or Core, etcetera..., you won't find it in your polygon chain, you'll find it in their various respective chains.
When I send all those tokens to the POLYGON address you gave me, they'll reflect on their various chains.
Bnb will reflect on BSC (binance smart chain).
Eth will reflect on Ethereum.
Core will reflect on Core chain.
Avax will reflect on Avalanche chain.
Matic will reflect on polygon chain.
And so on and forth....
And remember you don't have to start copying all their addresses, you just need to have one EVM address to transfer any EVM token or coin to any EVM chain address. Because they're all connected.
**** What NON-EVM is, are the opposite of all you've read above.
E.g of NON-EVM chains are; XRP, SOLANA, BITCOIN, SEI, SUI, DODGE, etcetera...
All these chains are NON-EVM compatibles, and they aren't even connected to their selves like how all EVMs are connected.
I hope this 🧵 helps give you some understanding about EVM, "what they are and what they aren't".
And ofc' don't stop here, DYOR (do your own research), and grow. 💯
Quite an enlightening post
I will definitely drop more of this
