Hi everybody!
In some of my earlier blogs, I have introduced you to some famous ancient temples of South India. In this blog, I take pleasure in introducing you to a relatively modern temple built in recent decades, which is as praiseworthy as the ancient temples of India!
The name of this temple is 'Punyakshetra Sri Dharmagiri Manjunathaswamy Devalaya (temple).' It is located in the Banashankari area of Bangalore. When you are in Bangalore, don't miss a visit to this lovely temple! It is beautifully constructed with a combination of concrete and stone, surrounded by lush greenery that is cherished by every nature lover.
Three main deities, namely Manjunathaswamy (a form of Lord Shiva), Ambika (Goddess Parvati), and Maha Ganapathi (the elephant-headed second son of Shiva and Parvati), are worshipped in this temple. All the idols of the gods inside the temple are beautifully carved in black stone. The priests and other staff of the temple are well-trained, gentle, and friendly towards the visitors. In the vast hilly area surrounding the temple, plenty of trees and a variety of other plants are grown. Amidst all the greenery, huge idols of gods and goddesses are beautifully sculpted from concrete, which is a great tourist attraction indeed!
There are also smaller temples dedicated to gods and goddesses that are constructed around the main temple, which are just as beautiful! For example, the Shri Shirdi Sai Baba temple (Shirdi Sai Baba is a well-known saint who attained godhood upon leaving his mortal body in 1918). In a nutshell, when you are in Bangalore, if you are searching for a cool, peaceful, and relaxing getaway with a touch of divinity, then Punyakshetra Sri Dharmagiri Manjunathaswamy Devalaya (temple) is just the right place for you!
The temple's address:
Punyakshetra Sri Dharmagiri Manjunathaswamy Devalaya,
18th Main Road, Banashankari Stage II, Banashankari, Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka 560070,
India
