Hello everyone

Late last month, my son and I traveled to visit my sister and her family in Tak Province, Thailand 🇹🇭. It had been a long time since we last saw each other, as they live a full 1,500 km north of Phuket. We spent a wonderful week together, and on the final day before my son and I returned to Phuket, we decided to visit the Rai Treyawan Museum. Our last visit was three years ago, so we were excited to see what had changed! 😊✨

The Rai Treyawan Museum is located in Chong Khaem Subdistrict, Phob Phra District. The museum covers a large area, and the owner, a passionate nature lover, has a deep appreciation for antiques. It’s truly an inspiring place! I’ve often thought how much I’d love to open a similar spot—a beautiful garden with a small cafe and museum where people can relax and take photos. ☕🌸

When we last visited, the entrance fee for adults was just 20 baht and free for children. Today, the entrance fee has increased to 50 baht, but adults receive a 20 baht discount for snacks and drinks. Children still enter for free! The increase is likely due to the addition of a dedicated museum displaying rare antiques. 🏺📜

As we walked inside, we were greeted by tall rows of palm trees lined up beautifully. Right in the center stood a large red post box and a motorcycle with big wheels parked beside it, creating a fun, retro vibe. 🌴📬🏍️

The Rai Treyawan Museum has a charming backstory. The owner, a local resident of Tak Province, is a passionate collector and nature enthusiast who began the museum as a small personal project. He originally started gathering antiques out of love for preserving Thai heritage, and over the years, his collection grew so vast that he decided to open it up to the public. His vision wasn’t only to showcase these pieces but also to create a space where visitors could immerse themselves in nature, unwind, and enjoy the unique rural beauty of Tak Province.

The park is full of surprises for the kids, with robots and superhero statues placed around as a treat for little visitors. My son’s eyes lit up with excitement seeing his favorite characters on display! 🤖🦸‍♂️

They also have bicycles for rent to explore the park—a fun way to see everything! It’s just 20 baht per bike, and there’s no time limit, so you can ride around as much as you like. 🚲💚

The Rai Treyawan Museum is incredibly spacious, with much of the area dedicated to beautifully maintained gardens. Large stones have been artistically arranged throughout the grounds, adding to the charm and creating picture-perfect scenes at every turn. No matter where you take a photo, it’s bound to look stunning! 🌿📸🌞

One special aspect of the museum is that the owner personally handpicked each stone and plant for the gardens, often taking trips to remote areas to find unique rocks and tree species that would enhance the grounds. Local stories say he even had the pathways and garden layouts designed according to traditional Thai feng shui principles, creating a harmonious space that brings good energy to the land.

Although the Rai Treyawan Museum is filled with palm trees, coconut trees, and plenty of lush greenery, the heat that day was intense! 🌞 Even the shade couldn’t quite cool us off, and after a short walk, the kids were already feeling tired and in need of a rest.

The garden elements here are so beautifully arranged and meticulously maintained, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. 🌿✨

In the heart of the area lies a large pond with a scenic pavilion and a lookout point at its center. A charming red bridge stretches across the pond, leading to the pavilion. This spot is a photographer’s dream and makes for a stunning photo backdrop! 📸🏞️❤️

This adorable little girl is my 3-year-old niece. 💕 The last time we visited this museum she was just a tiny newborn, only a week old, and she slept through most of it! This time, though, she was full of curiosity, exploring everything around her with wide eyes and a big smile. It was so sweet to see her enjoying this visit! 🥰🌸

The Rai Treyawan Museum is a place full of variety and visual treats! From statues of famous movie characters to quirky, nostalgic installations, there’s something for everyone. For horror fans, there's even a Child’s Play display for a little thrill. 👻🎬

One part that especially moved me was the street art that captures scenes from the past through beautiful murals. It instantly took me back to my childhood. Back then, technology was limited, cars were scarce, and getting anywhere often meant walking. 📜✉️ There were no TVs, and communication happened through handwritten letters or telegrams. Morning coffee was a time for the community to gather, with people chatting in the local cafés. It’s a cherished memory, and this artwork brought all those feelings back. ☕🌅💌

With the intense heat that day, we often had to pause under the shady trees to cool off. 🌳☀️

One beautiful spot is the traditional Thai wooden house belonging to the owner of Rai Treyawan Museum. Built as a tranquil vacation retreat, it showcases the elegance of Thai architecture. While visitors can’t go inside, the house is captivating from the outside, surrounded by lush greenery. 🏡🌿

The entrance arch to this area is also crafted from wood, adorned with majestic lion statues on either side that lend an impressive, almost regal air to the approach. 🦁✨

The walkway leading up to the house is lined with various statues, each posing in different gestures, adding character and artistry to the path. 🎭🌸

The museum grounds are filled with a variety of ornamental and large trees—everywhere you look, there’s green as far as the eye can see, creating a beautifully soothing atmosphere. 🌿🌞

One of the highlights is the row of tall, lush Italian Cypress trees, standing proudly and adding a touch of elegance to the scenery. The children couldn’t resist playing hide and seek, darting behind the cypress trees with laughter echoing through the garden. 🌳🎉😊

After a hot, tiring day exploring the vast grounds of Rai Treyawan Museum, we felt grateful for the time spent together as a family, making memories and learning more about Thai culture and history. The museum offers such a unique blend of nature and nostalgia, and even though it left us exhausted, the joy of discovery and laughter shared made it all worthwhile.

In addition to the scenic gardens, Rai Treyawan now features a brand-new exhibit, showcasing a collection of rare antiques and cherished collectibles gathered by the owner over the years. I can’t wait to share more about this treasure trove with you in Part 2! Stay tuned to discover more hidden gems and rare artifacts from this special place. 😉
