Dear Blurtians and BeBlurtians,
One week after the previous post and following a busy week, I am pleased to announce the release of version 1.5.1 of the BeBlurt Progressive Web Application (PWA). On the menu: editing functionality, community patches, Whalevault fix, and other fixes.
But first, a quick reminder of what BeBlurt is, as many people still don't seem to fully understand what it's all about.
What is BeBlurt?
BeBlurt is a decentralized application (dApp) built on the Blurt blockchain, offering a flexible and secure platform for bloggers to publish their content. It caters to bloggers in various niches such as travel, lifestyle, food, crypto, development, and more. BeBlurt also provides a user-friendly interface for readers to discover new and exciting content.
As a Progressive Web Application (PWA), BeBlurt offers a seamless user experience accessible through any web browser on various devices, including mobile, tablet, laptop, and desktop. It eliminates the need to download a separate app and can be installed on any device. It has features like an icon on the home screen, app launcher, and push notifications (for Android). The app is developed using Ionic/Angular and includes functionalities like QR code reader, access to the camera and photo gallery.
BeBlurt goes beyond being just a front-end platform. It serves as a creation studio for authors, allowing them to manage communities and participate in governance activities like voting for witnesses and funding proposals through the Blurt Decentralized Fund. Additionally, it provides a comprehensive delegation management system, offering a daily payment of 85% of curation rewards and detailed analytics. The app also includes a dashboard that displays important information about users' accounts, such as the number of posts and comments per week and month as well as various earnings and transfers.
Overall, BeBlurt combines the benefits of blockchain technology, specifically the Blurt blockchain, with the convenience and accessibility of a Progressive Web Application, making it an all-in-one solution for bloggers, readers, and community management on the platform.
Okay, now that that's done, let's get back to today's topic, BeBlurt version 1.5.1.
Edit Feature
One of the major highlights of this release is the introduction of the post editing functionality. You can now modify your published posts on the Blurt blockchain, allowing you to make necessary updates or corrections. This feature provides greater flexibility and control over your content.
To access the edit function, open your post and go to the end, where you'll see a button with 3 vertical dots on the right. Click on it and a menu will appear.
This will open the post in edition mode. Make your changes and save.
Non-modifiable fields such as category/community, beneficiaries, or choice of reward split are disabled. However, you can modify the title, text, tags, description, and cover image.
Once you've made your changes, click on the "Edit" button. A confirmation window opens, showing you the Blurt blockchain fees to be paid for the transaction. In order to keep costs as low as possible, the update does not resend the entire text, but only the modifications. To achieve this, BeBlurt uses a patch function with the diff-match-patch library
Blurt Blockchain Communities (Nexus)
I've made some important fixes to the Blurt Blockchain Communities (Nexus) feature in BeBlurt, and in particular to the community properties. The following main issues have been resolved:
- Fixed the disallowed use of "@" and "#" symbols in the community title.
- Resolved the issue where spaces were not allowed at the end of the community description, rules, etc.
As well as 2 modifications to the Nexus source code itself, which are currently being tested on the BeBlurt RPC before being committed:
- add a test on
settings['avatar_url']
in the_read_props
function - change for
str
in the MicroForkException function
Whalevault Integration
A Whalevault Blurt keychain fix has been applied to resolve detection and communication issues with Whalevault. This update should enable a smoother use of Whalevault on BeBlurt.
Other Fixes
In addition to the above, several other bug fixes and improvements have been made, including:
- Fixed a bug related to the placement of start_author and start_permlink in the post-list.
- Modified imageProxyFn to exclude ".gif" images from
https://img.blurt.world
due to the animated gifs. - Resolved issues with malformed image quotes (single, double, and no quote).
- Fixed cover image for Dtube posts and added support for YouTube videos.
- Removed proxy when displaying Ecency and Hive images.
Conclusion
With BeBlurt version 1.5.1, we have introduced the highly anticipated edit feature, along with important fixes and enhancements to Blurt Blockchain Communities (Nexus), community properties, Whalevault integration, and other aspects of the application. These updates aim to provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience on the Blurt blockchain.
Stay tuned for future posts, including an exciting announcement about the onboarding process.
Thank you for your continued support through a vote on my witness or a Delegation to the BeBlurt Delegation program. Together, let's continue to thrive within the Blurt blockchain ecosystem.

How to check your BeBlurt version
BeBlurt is a Progressive Web Application (PWA) running in your browser so to help you check that you are up to date in the bottom menu the version you are using is displayed.
The application updates automatically in the background but you may have to close and reopen the browser page (or the PWA application for those who have installed it on a smartphone, see this post)
A Ctrl + Shift + R to force a refresh will also work.
This is a great dApp, love it... probably the best across all the graphene based social content chains!
I'm sure you have lots of updates in the hopper... one thing I'd like to suggest is easy access to comments and replies; might not be important now, but good to have built in for a future in which Blurt might be handling 100x more users and posts than now. Perhaps located along these lines:
Thanks a lot 😊
BeBlurt is an application developed from scratch that's still in its early stages, just a few months old, so there are still a lot of features missing, such as those you've mentioned and that are planned in the roadmap. The same goes for the wallet, which is only a temporary minimalist version at the moment, and for other features and surprises that will arrive as we go along.
Congratulations!
