Birds appear more and more regularly in places where they have been fed for many years. Young tits arrive, sometimes their parents, young jays and, of course, jackdaws.
From their appearance you can see that they are a young generation, not yet familiar with the feeder, but they learn very quickly. Initially, when I threw them peanuts, they ran away, then, distrustfully, walking slightly sideways, they approached the food, quickly grabbed it with their beaks and flew away. Now they politely line up in front of the bench and wait for food. A lovely view.
I don't spoil them too much because they get shelled peanuts. They had trouble with them at first, but after a few tries they learned how to split them. They hold a nut with their claws and effectively make a hole in it with their beak. Once a small hole appears in the nut, they break off pieces of the shell to get to the desired nut.
I really like these birds for their exceptional intelligence and quick adaptation to conditions. They are not aggressive, and they look almost with pity at magpies that steal their food.
I hope they will stay with me all winter. They will then be able to count on a daily supply of nuts and other prisms, sunflower seeds or hazelnuts.
I noticed that their favorite thing is raisins. They absolutely love them and enjoy eating them. But it's probably natural, because dried fruit on trees is their daily food.
