I thought of one of the most beautiful cities in Emilia Romagna: Bologna.
Follow me as we take a mini tour of the main things about this city
Let us start with via indipendenza, which intersects with via Rizzoli and Ugo Bassi: the intersection is very important because it is basically the intersection of the decumanus maximus with the first minor cardo (the cardo maximus is constituted by via Galliera, which is to the west, i.e., to the left of the photographed street)
We proceed to Piazza Maggiore, where the Basilica of San Petronio is located. This Basilica was supposed to be the largest in Europe, but for political reasons it was not completed: in fact, the exposed brick part was to be completely covered with white marble.
This fountain is one of the symbols of the city-the Fountain of Neptune.
Designed by Giambologna and built by Laureti, it was built at the behest of Pope Pius IV in 1563 and finished in 1566
View of the Decumanus Maximus, Via Rizzoli, on the east side, one can barely make out The Two Towers.
North part of Bologna, a short walk from the central train station, is Piazza VIII Agosto at the foot of the Montagnola gardens.
