Steem blockchain platform was created in 2016 by Daniel Larimer, or often referred to as Dan, an American programmer.
Previously, in 2013, Dan had already created another blockchain platform called BitShares, which engages in decentralized exchange.
Both BitShares and Steem platforms are based on a blockchain platform called Graphene, also created by Dan.
A unique feature of the Graphene blockchain is a consensus mechanism called Delegated Proof Of Stake (DPOS).
Unlike the Bitcoin blockchain, which uses proof-of-work (POW), which is slow and consumes large amounts of electrical energy, DPOS is very fast and efficient.
If it takes about 10 minutes to validate a transaction in the Bitcoin blockchain, it takes only 3 seconds in the Graphene blockchain. (Yes, it is 200 times faster.)
How can it be so fast? The key is the word "delegated". In a graphene blockchain, not all nodes verify, but only the few that get the most delegates.
In the case of Steem blockchain, only 20 nodes perform the verification. Therefore, the verification time is much faster than the Bitcoin blockchain where thousands of nodes all verify.
After completing the Steem blockchain, Dan moved on to his next project, the EOS blockchain platform. He further redeveloped the Graphene blockchain so that it can run smart contract programs such as Ethereum.
And after developing the EOS blockchain, again Dan moved on to his next project. That is ClarionOS, a truly decentralized communication platform for all people and all blockchains that want to use it.

What kind of blockchain platform will ClarionOS be in the future? Let's track the progress of this Dan's last project.
But will this really be his last project?
I think he’ll just keep creating new projects
Maybe like Thomas Edison in case of electricity.. 😁
Very interesting about Dan
But I always heard bad things about him
His EOS project collected so much money from people.. But failed to dethrone Ethereum..
Yeah thanks it's really around EOS right!
