The Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) have announced the launch of the team’s first non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
Professional hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks, have announced the team’s first official NFT collection is now available. The team is making officially licensed ERC-721 NFTs with some being sold at a fixed price and others being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
The collection is available on the Sweet platform using the Amazon Web Services Content Delivery Network (CDN) to host the digital collectibles publicly. Sweet allows brands to mint NFTs on multiple chains and currently support Ethereum ERC-721 and Ethereum Mainnet tokens.
The Blackhawks NFT collection
The collection itself is comprised of 12 hocket character cards and 2,000 digital tickets that were inspired by 8-bit hockey games of the ‘80s like Blades of Steel. The NFTs also included not only the digital art itself but also paired with physical items or VIP experiences.
The first and more abundant side of the sale is the Digital Tickets of which there have been 2,000 minted. The idea is to give the general public access to NFTs who can’t afford the bidding wars in the auction house. There are four different editions of the tickets, with 500 of each being sold at a price of $30 each.
The sale is on a first come first serve basis and anyone who snags all four will be awarded a bonus ‘Golden Ticket’. Each of the four tickets is a digital representation of games one through four of a hypothetical Stanley Cup Finals. For reference, the game four listing reads “RAISE THE TROPHY!! The Hawks get a pair of third-period goals to clinch the series 4-0 and bring a parade back to the best city in the world. We cannot wait to see our incredible fans celebrating in Chicago together again.”
The Character cards are geared more towards serious collectors and will have only 60 minted. Each of the character cards is only available via auction with bids starting at $100. The players available to collect are fictional characters that were inspired by the city of Chicago and the history of the Blackhawks franchise. Six of the characters sport red home jerseys while the other six suit up in road whites.
Five editions of each player are available with the first editions to feature unique animations for each character. There are two captain cards available in the auction and whoever wins the first editions of them will be also given tickets to a real-life Blackhawks game for the upcoming season along with customized jerseys.
