The current world's constant wars, chaos and rapid climate change have put us in front of a dire food crisis. Already we are beginning to foresee food shortages. I don't know what awaits us. But if the food crisis takes the form of an epidemic, the resulting epidemic that awaits us, it goes without saying that billions of people around the world will die without food.
বর্তমানে সবেচেয়ে বেশি আলোচ্য বিষয় গুলোর মধ্যে খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা অন্যতম। খুব সম্ভবত আমরা অল্প কিছুদিনের মধ্যে যেসব গুরুতর সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হব, খাদ্য সংকট তাদের মধ্যে প্রথম সারিতে থাকবে। বর্তমান বিশ্বের অনবরত যুদ্ধ-বিগ্রহ, বিশৃঙ্খলা আর জলবায়ুর দ্রুত পরিবর্তন আমাদের এক ভয়াবহ খাদ্য সংকটের সামনে দাড় করিয়ে দিয়েছে। ইতোমধ্যে আমরা খাদ্য সংকটের পূর্বাভাস পেতে শুরু করেছি। জানিনা আমাদের সামনে কি অপেক্ষা করছে। তবে খাদ্য সংকট মহামারি আকারে রুপ নিলে, এর ফলে যে মহামারি আমাদের সামনে অপেক্ষা করছে, বলার অপেক্ষা রাখেনা সারা পৃথিবীতে কোটি কোটি মানুষ না খেয়ে ইহকাল ত্যাগ করবে।
In the last few days, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has warned everyone about the impending epidemic in Bangladesh due to the food crisis, about 4 to 5 times. It is known today through the media of the main newspapers of Bangladesh that about 1.5 billion people of Bangladesh are struggling to get their own food. গত কয়েকদিনে বাংলাদেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা খাদ্য ঘাতটির ফলে বাংলাদেশে আসন্ন মহামারির কথা উল্লেখ করে সবাইকে সতর্ক করে দিয়েছে প্রায় ৪ থেকে ৫ বার। বাংলাদেশের প্রধান প্রধান সংবাদ পত্রের মাধ্যম দিয়ে আজকে জানা গেছে বাংলাদেশের প্রায় সাড়ে এগাড় কোটি মানুষ নিজেদের খাবার যোগাড় করতে হিমশিম খাচ্ছে। অর্থ্যাৎ এদেশের প্রায় তিন পঞ্চমাংশ মানুষ তীব্র ভাবে খাদ্য অনিরাপত্তায় ভুগছে।

সামনে এই অবস্থা আরো ভয়াবহ হবে। কারণ সরকার নিয়ন্ত্রিত সার কারখানা বন্ধ করার ফলে সারের দাম বৃদ্ধি ও ডিজেল তেলের দামের অস্বাভাবিক বৃদ্ধি এবছর খাদ্য উৎপাদন ব্যাপক ভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করবে বলে নিশ্চিৎ এদেশের সকল মানুষ। ফলে সামনে খাদ্য সংকট আরো ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠবে বলে বিশেষজ্ঞ গণ মত প্রকাশ করেছেন।
