Bangladesh is a country of six seasons. People of this country eat some traditional food in every season. The fifth and sixth months of the Bengali month i.e. Bhadra and Ashwin are autumn together. The next two months are Hemantkal. It is during this period that Navanna festival is celebrated in every house in Bengal, but this festival starts mainly from the month of Ashwin. Various Pithapuli are organized in this Navanna festival. The smell of new paddy and rice spreads far and wide.

বাংলাদেশ ষড়ঋতুর দেশ। প্রতিটি ঋতুতেই এদেশের মানুষ কিছু ঐতিহ্যবাহী খাবার খেয়ে থাকে। বাংলা মাসের পঞ্চম এবং ষষ্ঠ মাস অর্থাৎ ভাদ্র এবং আশ্বিন এই দুই মাস মিলে শরৎকাল। এর পরের দুই মাস মিলে হয় হেমন্তকাল। এই হেমন্তকালেই বাংলার প্রতিটি ঘরে ঘরে নবান্ন উৎসব হলেও এই উৎসব শুরু হয় মূলত আশ্বিন মাস থেকে। এই নবান্ন উৎসবে নানা পিঠাপুলির আয়োজন হয়ে থাকে। নতুন ধান, চালের গন্ধ ছড়িয়ে পড়ে দিগ্বিদিক।

Currently Ashwin month is going on. Ripening of dates has started from Bhadra month. And there is a buzz of making palm pita from house to house. My mother-in-law made taal pitha in our house too. My mother and sister visited my father-in-law's house with palm, cow's milk, sugar, coconut, rice and wheat flour and three native chickens.

বর্তমানে আশ্বিন মাস চলছে। ভাদ্র মাস থেকে তাল পাকা শুরু হয়ছে। আর ঘরে ঘরে তালের পিঠা তৈরির ধুম চলছে। আমাদের বাড়িতেও তালের পিঠা তৈরি করেছে আমার শ্বাশুড়ি মা। আমার মা এবং বোন আমার শ্বশুর বাড়িতে বেড়াতে এসেছিলেন সাথে তাল, গরুর দুধ, চিনি, নারকেল, চালের ও গমের আটা এবং তিনটা দেশি মুরগী।

My mother and sister were going to leave but me and my mother-in-law together asked them not to go and organized taal pitha. Palm pita is my favorite. Especially stale pita is very popular. That day we fried about two pots of pitha. When the pitha is fried, I go to the house of our uncle and in-laws and bring the pitha with my own hands. Many people also come to our house and let them eat then my mother and sister go to their house. It was nine o'clock at night when they reached home. I had a beautiful day that day.

আমার মা এবং বোন চলে যেতে যাচ্ছিলো কিন্তু আমি আর আমার শ্বাশুড়ি মিলে তাদের না যেতে বলি এবং তালের পিঠার আয়োজন করি। তালের পিঠা আমার খুবই পছন্দের। বিশেষত বাসি পিঠা অনেক পছন্দের। সেদিন আমরা প্রায় দুই গামলা পিঠা ভাজি। পিঠা ভাজা হলে আমাদের চাচা শ্বশুরদের বাড়ি বাড়ি গিয়ে আমি নিজ হাতে পিঠা দিয়ে আসি। আমাদের বাড়িতেও অনেক লোকজন আসে তাদের খেতে দিই তারপর আমার মা এবং বোন তাদের বাড়িতে যায়। রাত নয়টা বেজে যায় তাদের বাড়ি পৌঁছাতে । সেদিন একটা সুন্দর দিন কাটে আমার।
