All Beginnings Are Tough — Maintaining a Positive Outlook

in beginning •  4 years ago

So now we see that Blurt has been "live" for a little while... and there's a whole bunch of stuff that's not working, or not working properly.

All beginnings are tough, I recognize... and running something in a testnet environment is inevitably not the same as going live.

A Caution About "Initial Enthusiasm"

A wave of initial enthusiasm will only carry a project so far.

This is particularly important when it comes to things not working... which is why "delayed, but complete" launches often end up with better survivability than "on-time, but incomplete" launches.

In plain English... people don't promote or talk UP things that don't work!

So I hope the devs/witnesses of this gig manage to get the basics 100% functional very soon. Even super simple features are fine, as long as they work.

The "Cost" of no Downvotes?

Meanwhile, I see that the stream of troll/spam has already commenced and now is pretty much drowning the "New" posts feed.

Since we have no downvotes here — and we have no voting power, anyway — it seems the only way to deal with it is to simply "Mute" the account(s) in question.

Which you can do by going to their profile page, and clicking on "Mute" at upper right.

Happy Monday, everyone!

If anyone is alive, leave me a comment!
