Review of the Manchester City 2022–23 season
For the third year in a row, City won the Premier League trophy, making them just the third side in the competition's history and the first since Manchester United from 2006 to 2009.
Even though Pep Guardiola's team was widely predicted to win the championship before the season even started, the outcome was far from certain. For the majority of the season, Arsenal held the top spot, and City occasionally appeared to be going through a transitional period. Some even questioned if Erling Haaland was the proper coach for Guardiola's brand of game.
However, an 11-match winning streak (which included a 4-1 victory against Arsenal between February and May) caused Arsenal to crumble under pressure as City marched to the top, and the championship was finally won with three matches remaining.
League of Champions - Winners

Manchester City has finally won the title of European champion for the first time in their history.
Only Inter stood between City and the one major trophy that was still missing from their collection in the final in Istanbul after they easily defeated RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid in the elimination stages. And didn't they seal the deal elegantly?
FA Cup - Champions
In addition to winning the FA Cup to complete a league and cup double, the day was made unforgettable by defeating Manchester United in the final at Wembley.
The captain of City, lkay Gündoan, not only scored twice, but his amazing volley after just 12 seconds also stands as the fastest FA Cup final goal in history.
Quarterfinal of the EFL Cup
Southampton, who were ultimately relegated from the Premier League, eliminated City from the EFL Cup in what was perhaps their poorest performance of the whole season.
At halftime, Guardiola's team trailed 2-0 and never managed to generate a shot on goal the rest of the way, thereby ending their chances of an unheard-of quadruple.
Erling Haaland was the season's best player.
There are often a number of contenders for the Player of the Year award when a season is as great as City's, and players like Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Gündoan, Rodri, John Stones, Rben Dias, and Nathan Aké were all superb in 2022–23.
But Erling Haaland must receive the honor for his incredible goal-scoring achievements.
When the Norwegian joined City last summer, there were many questions about how fast he would adjust to English football and the team's style of play. However, he soon dispelled any doubts with a brace against West Ham on the first day of the season.
To be sure, it wasn't always easy, and he occasionally appeared alone up front as his teammates attempted to involve him in the action.
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old continued to score goals and eventually broke the Premier League scoring record for a 38-game season with 52 goals across all competitions, including 36 in the league. His nine assists across all games also indicates that his link-up play got better as the season went on.
What a successful first campaign. Just consider what the future may include after he has truly acclimated.
