A million thanks to God because I do not have to worry anymore about taking money out from my pocket everytime that I would change my dialyzers because these necessary and important things are very heavy for the pockets of dialysis patients to bear particularly those that have no means of income like most of my co-patients from my dialysis clinic.
I am using a highflux type of dialyzer and I needed it to get rid of more urea and nitrogen compounds from my blood so I have to purchase it twice a month where from the first purchase I will have a discount because my hospital says that it can only give the low flux dialyzer and if I would opt-in to use a highflux type, than I will have to ass PHP1,000 to get it.
On my second purchase for the same month I will have to buy the high flux dialyzer with its full amount of PHP2,200 so it is a real burden considering that it is already paid by the health insurance and yet my hospital cannot give it for free. I have to purchase a second dialyzer within a month because the re-use of dialyzer of re-used dialyzer ideally should not exceed six reuses while I retain mine for about seven re-uses.
Now my government health insurance "Philhealth" had increased the benefit package for us dialysis patients here in my country to the amount of PHP6,350 from the former PHP4,000 which is a big leap of a benefit. It was done with the help of kind-hearted congressman representatives which took heed about the clamor of the hemodialysis sector about the issue that many are still paying for things like the dialyzer and other medicines which are supposed to be free of charge already.
Now because of the additional money that Philhealth will pay for every session of every dialysis patent member of Philhealth here in my country, we are now enjoying our dialysis sessions free of charge. Some dialysis clinics are offering more dialyzers like four free dialyzers per month while my current dialysis clinic only offers two pieces per month. Well, it is better than nothing but I still have to know if the I.V. iron will also be free of charge because what I know is that the nurses are the ones selling it and not the hospital/clinic itself. So if it was the case as I suspect it is, then I will still have to buy those I.V. iron which I needed to be infused in my bloodstream twice a month so that I do not have to take iron supplements everyday.
Again, a million thanks to God because of this another enhancement of benefits from our government's universal health care for our sector of dialysis patients alone because in general, the benefit packages are enhanced all throughout all members of Philhealth and it is a big way for helping people who had gotten sick with not much means of supporting their medical needs except through our government health insurance system which now is working well in favor of all citizens in my country particularly the elderly which is automatically covered one they reach the age of sixty years of age as they can avail the benefits even without contribution to the premium payments.
The government charity is also working in tandem with government hospitals to aid those Philhealth members that would avail the charity services of government services, they would cover the whole bill if the patients really has no means of paying the government hospital service like surgery procedure costs, the medicines, and the doctor's fees.
In turn, people will get the help that they needed and will be aided accordingly and it will help them go through their medical problems much more easier compared before. Citizens in my country will continue to be productive because of this kind of unprecedented insurance benefits which also will unburden the family members from financially helping their sick loved ones because of the financial easement that it brought to every single citizen of my country. Thanks a million to God because he heard my prayers along with other people who wants to live without so much burdens on our shoulders anymore.
