Dear BeBlurt Community,

We wish to inform you about a serious incident that began on Thursday, February 29th at 17:30 GMT, affecting the BeBlurt application and, by extension, our valued users.

The incident started unexpectedly, leading to significant service disruption. Our team immediately sprang into action, dedicating the first 24 hours to an intensive effort to repair the server. Despite our best attempts and the dedication of our technical team, we were unable to resolve the issue to restore service promptly.

Regrettably, after exhausting all possible repair options, we were faced with the tough decision to build a new server from the ground up. This necessary action added an additional 32 hours to the recovery process (including data restoration and replay of blockchain and nexus), culminating in a total service interruption of 56 hours.

We understand the impact this has had on our community and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and potential disruptions to your Blurt activities. The new server is now operational, and we are glad to report that all data has been successfully restored. We've taken measures to ensure the stability and reliability of our service moving forward.

To address the impact on our users, specifically concerning delayed payments for delegations, which were also affected by this outage, a payment including late payment has just been made for a total amount of 1,597.577 BLURT.

Additionally, we want to inform our users that posts scheduled for publication during the outage period have been deferred if their authors have already made a post during the downtime. We therefore invite all authors who had scheduled publications to review and adjust them accordingly to ensure their timely release.

We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. The trust and support of the Blurt community mean everything to us, and we are committed to making continuous improvements to prevent such incidents in the future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,
The BeBlurt Team

Unfortunately I have never been able to publish using the PC with Windows 7 or Linux (Xubuntu) since, like the owner, it has a few years under its belt.

I generally publish using BlurtLatam or Blurt Official. Strange case: publishing today on the official Blurt frontend (Latam was also down) I am surprised by a legend that says: "you are using a master key (not true since I use the key to publish) and you will surely lose the control of your account"

Everything is very strange: I try to download the Keychain (like in Hive) and when I try to install WhaleVault, a legend tells me that it is an uncertified extension and that I can lose access to all my data on the PC.

We're entering a pretty complicated scene with hackers at Blurt.

Since January 10, 2023, the date when Windows 7 reached its complete end of life and stopped receiving security updates, I can only advise against using it if it is connected to the Internet. It has become an easy target for hackers.

For the WhaleVault extension, did you get it from the Google Chrome store or Firefox store? You can find the official links on their public Github repo 👉 https://github.com/alexpmorris/WhaleVault

To tell the truth, I have been working with PCs for many years and I never believed much in Microsoft updates. Nobody doubts that behind each new operating system and the elimination of support for others there is only big business. I think XP and Windows have been by far the best Windows operating systems and so far I haven't had any problems. Hacker attacks also depend a lot on ourselves and the measures we take on our PC. On the other hand, my PC does not support Win 10/11

In short, opinions are opinions, greetings and congratulations for the work carried out at BLURT.

Regarding where I tried to download WhaleVault, it is as a Chrome or Firefox extension (I use both browsers) from their respective official pages.

I'm a Windows user from before Windows itself! 🤣 I used MS-DOS on my i386 SX 25MHz computer in 1988 when I was 16. Yep, the most stable of all was Windows XP, there's no doubt about it. Everyone is free to do as they please with their home computer; it was just a message of prevention. Yes, by taking adequate measures to restrict and control what goes in and out through the network, you can minimize risks.

So, it's strange about the message when installing WhaleVault. I didn't have this error. Maybe @alexpmorris can tell you more about this?

I'm going to try installing it from GitHub. I already downloaded it to the PC. I have also been using Linux for a lifetime. I lived in Italy when the first Ubuntu came out back in 2004.

By the way, I see that you were born in 1972. In that year I entered the University to study Economic Sciences. Do the math.

Obviously I have also used Windows with a 386 and DOS as the operating system. You worked only with the sursor up, down and to the sides. The windows of the current windows were not yet known. They appear in 95.

I remember that in DOS they had a game called Carmen San Diego and to guess where it was going you had to know the color of the flags on the plane. What a story!

Yep, born in the year of pong game hahaha.

My worst memory with i386 was having to manually find the right IRQ pin position on the motherboard to avoid IRQ errors when adding new peripherals. But what a funny time, you bought a peripheral and a month later it was obsolete.

I also remember Carmen San Diego, but I can't remember whether I played it on my PC or on my Atari ST 520, which I had before my PC.

That sounds a bit annoying and sketchy...
I can never use Latam (simply won't comment or post). I also can't use BeBlurt ("unknown user" error). I don't agree with using Blurt.blog due to the censorship and other issues there, but I've got no choice if I want to access my blog and funds.

Other front-end seems to have some problems to while @beblurt was in tantrum mode but these things happens and I am glad that I was able to post again recently within beblurt frontend. Thank you for your swift action and quick decision to fix the issue. 😀👍

I tried loooong time to write my post, but it was impossible, it's good that everything is now back to normal. Thanks for the announcement, @beblurt, this action speaks well of you and your work team because they are pending, especially with small accounts that very little in Blurt are taken into account within the platform when we are the ones who also maintain the blockchain.

Greetings.

Congratulations on getting things sorted out, and for the good communication in this announcement.

Sadly, I don't think these changes fixed your posting bug...
