Bagpipes are a musical instrument that operate based on a principal of pressure. Sounds emit from the connected pipes as pressurised air exits.
Traditionally made from the skins of animals, modern bagpipes are now made of synthetic material. there are a few theories around the origin of the bagpipe and while you might think that bagpipes are probably from Scotland, their origin might be a little further away.
Some believe that bagpipes come from Ireland during a period of colonisation. However, some believe that it's possible that bagpipes have Egyptian origin and this found its way to Scotland through the Roman Empire.
Regardless of their origin, bagpipes are loud and can be heard from a great distance. They exist in many forms all around the world.
