When the first Avatar movie made its way to the big screen, I will openly admit I was amazed by the immersion of its 3D experience. Since then, I have not taken much notice of 3D films, they felt tacked on and just didn't add much value for me.
Avatar is by no means a fantastic story, it's pretty mediocre actually in my opinion. But the tech it shows off during the scenes made the journey magical.
A 2nd movie not enjoyed on the big screen in 3D makes the proposition of a sequel a little moot. So I hope theatres open eventually for us to enjoy a sequel. Perhaps they can innovate a little more in the immersion space. I totally respect the director and the writing of Avatar but the novelty and tech behind immersion is what drives Avatar for me. I hope to see more!
