Overcoming Shyness can be made easy with positive affirmations. By using positive self talk, you will become more comfortable around new people and will be able to break the ice. A great way to do this is to repeat positive self talk aloud. When you repeat your thoughts to yourself in a clear voice, you will soon feel much better. This helps overcome shy feelings naturally, so you don't have to try so hard to overcome shyness.

Overcoming shyness in social situations is only half the battle, you must also learn how to let go of your shyness and be yourself. It is easier said than done, but it is possible with some practice. Often times shyness is caused by past negative social experiences. You must learn how to move past those negative experiences and focus on the present.

People that are naturally shy tend to feel shy around others at first, but this soon becomes avoidance rather than being a real approach to socializing. The first step to overcoming shyness is simply to step out of your comfort zone and become comfortable with being around others. This can be accomplished by going out to new places, trying new things and just trying things that make you feel shy or uncomfortable. The more comfortable you feel with these situations, the less shyness you feel.

In order to break the cycle of shyness and become more comfortable around others, take a few deep breaths and relax. This should be done before you speak with new people. Take time beforehand to let yourself feel really comfortable. Look around at other people and repeat for 5 times in your mind what they look like. Now speak to new people, making sure to smile and say hi. You will see how easy it is to smile when you know you look good.

If you are naturally shy, then learn how to be confident. You need to have more self-esteem so that you can come across as a confident person when you talk to others. Speak up, sit up straight in your chair and do not hesitate to take control of the situation. When you feel confident, you will not feel shy at all.

If you feel that you are shy because you have not 'arrived' yet, try to expand your definition of 'arrived'. When you first walk into a room, stand up and take notice of everyone else there. What do you see? When you start talking to new people, tell them that you feel that you already 'look' like them; this will take some of the fear out of meeting new people.

To get over extreme shyness, practice being open and friendly with new people. When you talk with them, tell them that you like them, smile and be kind. Do not be afraid to ask them questions and make eye contact. When you are confident that you have overcome shy feelings, then you can start doing new things confidently.

It may be that you have never been out of doors before in your life. The good news is that overcoming shyness is possible through natural means such as reading books or articles. You will find that there is no reason that you cannot conquer extreme shyness and become just as confident in social situations as the most outgoing people.
