Will Robots take over Human Jobs

in artificialintelligence •  10 months ago

This is a topic that has been one of a controversy since past few years. As the age of AI gets stronger, more and more human jobs are also getting automated. Even in factories once upon a time some jobs which were manual are now automated and those jobs have been cut down. There was a time when people anticipated that jobs in service industry can never be taken over by robots because there is no human touch in them and service industry is all about human connections. But here also we proved wrong, there are service industry jobs also being taken over by robots. There are restaurants which have robot servers now.

Many stores no longer have cashiers for bill payments, they are full automated. You buy and then there are machines installed to make direct payments by card without any human intervention. Last month I shopped at Decathlon and they had a similar system for billing. Because the system is new there were staff to assist. But I am sure over the years those staff will not be needed. Likewise even in construction there are so many processes which are automated.

To think of it, any job can be taken over by a robot and then what about we humans, will we be jobless or we will be managing these robots, in a way it will be jobs of those nature, where it will be all about robot programming. But then what about people who are not interested in programming jobs and technical skills. Personally I believe that human intervention will never get cut out 100% though it will reduce drastically. The future generations need to seriously think about this and prepare for such skills which will fend for themselves.
