A couple of days back I mentioned about the Kala Ghoda festival. This festival is all about arts, and there was a art showcase of horses with different themes around nature conservation and sustainability. This festival along with showcasing art, it also gives platform to the local industries from across India to sell their products. India is a big country with 28 states and 8 union territories and each state has a different culture. You can also say that each state is like a mini country. Though the cultures are different they smoothly blend in to each other making it all part of one Country.
Majority of the products sold here were handmade products and promoting small scale industries of India. To think of it, India is so huge and produces almost every commodity, and there would be barely any need for importing any product. Rather India can be self sufficient and also export, It's just that people want to use foreign products and there is a demand of it so there is an import of foreign products.
This is from Maharashtra, that's my state, Mumbai city is in the state of Maharashtra. Here they were selling hand art show plates, used for home decor purpose.
They are selling handmade carpets of all different sizes.
Jackets of Himachal Pradesh are famous. This is the hilly and cold region of India and this is the traditional outfit worn in this region at large.
A lot of handmade items of women jewelery, accessories and home decor
The puppets from Andhra Pradesh, very colorful and attractive.
Handmade dolls made out of rags
Rajasthan is famous for this type of footwear, which is called Mojdi
Another decorated earthen plates from Uttarakhand
Clothes from West Bengal, all of these are handmade, tailored by local tailors and not from any factory
Throughout the street there were these stalls where one would see art from each state of India. All of it handmade.
There was a podium for live performances with some emerging artists.
In all this is a fantastic platform for small scale entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
Some great photos here, especially the vertical one with the festival below and the green canopy above! Pretty magical spot.
It was a very colorful festival. It happens every year for 10 days and almost every soul of Mumbai city visits it.
