  • we were once human

After five years of devastation, the world was a different place. Zombies had taken over, and humanity was struggling to survive. At first, the infected were aggressive and dangerous, attacking anyone who crossed their path. But over time, something strange began to happen. The zombies became less hostile and more human-like, although they still retained their increased strength and awful smell.

As nature began to take over, lush forests and wide meadows began to replace once-paved roads and concrete jungles. Trees became taller and the air became fresher. But amidst the beauty of nature, danger still lurked. The undead still roamed, albeit more docile. The survivors had learned to adapt to this new world, and they knew that they had to be cautious at all times.

One such survivor was Emma. She had lost her family to the outbreak, and had been living on her own for years. She had learned many things in her time alone, and had become a skilled hunter and scavenger. She knew the best times to forage, the safest places to rest, and how to avoid detection from the zombies.

One day, while on a routine supply run, Emma found something unusual. She was exploring an abandoned city, where she had heard that there were still some supplies left. As she was walking down a deserted street, she saw something moving in the distance. It was a figure, walking slowly towards her. At first, she thought it was another zombie, but as it got closer, she saw that it was different.

The figure was a woman, or what was left of one. She was wearing ragged clothes, and her skin was grey and mottled. But something about her seemed more human than any other zombie Emma had ever seen. The woman was walking slowly, and seemed to be lost. Emma approached her cautiously, her hand on the hilt of her knife.

As she got closer, Emma could see that the woman's eyes were glazed over, but she wasn't attacking. Emma spoke to her, and surprisingly, the woman responded. Her voice was low and raspy, but it was unmistakably human.

"Hello," Emma said. "Are you alright?"

The woman paused, as if trying to remember how to speak. "I...I don't know," she said. "I feel strange. Like I'm not myself."

Emma was intrigued. She had heard rumors of zombies becoming more human-like, but she had never seen it for herself. She decided to take the woman back to her camp, to see if she could help her. The woman was hesitant at first, but after some convincing, she agreed to come with Emma.

Over the next few days, Emma did her best to treat the woman's wounds and help her adjust to her new reality. She learned that her name was Sarah, and that she had been infected during the early days of the outbreak. She had been wandering aimlessly ever since, until she met Emma.

As time passed, Emma noticed that Sarah seemed to be changing. She was becoming more human with each passing day. Her skin was less grey, and her eyes were clearer. She spoke more easily, and even began to laugh at Emma's jokes. Emma began to wonder if it was possible to cure the zombie infection.

One day, Sarah disappeared. Emma searched for her for days, but she was nowhere to be found. She assumed that Sarah had wandered off, lost in her thoughts. She was heartbroken, but she knew that it was a possibility when living in a world like this.

Weeks went by, and Emma continued to live her life as a survivor. She hunted, scavenged, and avoided the undead. But one day, she saw something that made her heart skip a beat. It was Sarah, walking towards her, a smile on her face.

"Emma! I've missed you!" she said, hugging her tightly.

Emma was shocked. Sarah was different. Her skin was pink, and her eyes were bright. She looked...normal.

"I don't know what happened," Sarah said. "I just woke up one day, and I was myself again. The infection was gone."

Emma couldn't believe it. She had witnessed something incredible. The zombie outbreak had devastated the world, but maybe, just maybe, there was hope for a cure. Emma and Sarah set out to find other survivors, to see if they could help them too. They had a new purpose in life, and they were determined to make a difference in this new world.

  • The cursed frame

The car was a thing of beauty, or so it seemed at first glance. It was sleek, with an aerodynamic design that made it look like it was meant to fly rather than drive. But there was something odd about it, something that made people uneasy. It had been in an accident every year or two, and the body had been repaired and switched out more times than anyone could count.

After ten years of this, the story began to spread. People said that the car was cursed, that it brought bad luck to anyone who owned it. And yet, the car was still out there, quietly passed from one owner to another, without revealing the true story behind it. As long as you held onto the car, bad things happened nearby. Accidents, illnesses, even deaths.

Most people didn't know the true history of the car. They didn't know about the first accident, the one that had started everything. It had happened on a dark and stormy night, the kind of night where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. The driver had been speeding, and had lost control of the car. It had crashed into a tree, killing the driver instantly.

After that, the car had been repaired and sold to a new owner. But it wasn't long before another accident happened. And then another. And another. Each time, the car was repaired and sold again, without anyone knowing the true history behind it.

It wasn't until the car had been through several owners that people began to realize what was happening. It wasn't just a string of bad luck. It was the car. The car was cursed, and it brought bad luck to anyone who owned it.

The current owner of the car was a man named Tom. He had bought it from a used car dealer, attracted by its sleek design and low price. He didn't know anything about its history, only that it had been in a few accidents. But he didn't think too much about it. He was young and reckless, and he liked to live on the edge.

It wasn't long before bad things started happening to Tom. He was in a car accident, but he managed to walk away with only a few scratches. Then, his girlfriend got sick, and he had to take care of her for weeks. And then, his best friend died unexpectedly.

Tom didn't connect the dots at first. He thought that it was just a string of bad luck. But then, he started to notice that strange things were happening around the car. It would start on its own, in the middle of the night. Things would fall off the shelves whenever the car was nearby. Even animals seemed to avoid it.

One night, as Tom was driving the car home, he saw something in the rearview mirror. It was a figure, standing in the middle of the road. He slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The car hit the figure, and Tom heard a sickening thud.

He got out of the car, shaking. He couldn't believe what had just happened. But when he looked back, there was no one there. It was as if the figure had never existed.

That was when Tom knew that the car was cursed. He couldn't keep it any longer. He had to get rid of it, before something worse happened.

He quietly passed the car onto a next unsuspecting owner, without revealing the true story behind it. As long as he wasn't the owner, he knew he would be safe.

Years went by, and the car continued to be passed from one owner to another. People whispered about its cursed history, but no one really knew the truth. And yet, bad things continued to happen around the car.

It was as if the curse had become a part of the car itself, a dark stain that couldn't be washed away. And so, the car was quietly passed from one owner to another, a silent shadow in the night, a symbol of the bad luck that followed in its wake.
