Smiley faces

in art •  2 years ago

I love finding ways to connect, particularly from a distance as I do suffer from social anxiety at times. One of the ways I love to do that is by making smiley faces around my local area. One of the ways is from things I find in my environment, from little ones made on discarded fruit or from fallen petals, to giant ones made from seaweed on the beach.

I have even made them from broken glass I saw on the street

I also occasionally pick up discarded face masks
And spray faces on the to tie around the area (sometimes I put positive messages on them) the idea I had was to turn both rubbish and a negative symbol into something more positive for people to enjoy.

The thing I do most often (and as a way to connect with people) is to make smiley pebbles that I leave around my area. I leave my ‘smileys of southend’ Facebook group and Instagram tag (@beelightfully) on the back so people can get in touch if they find them.

Through this so many people have sent through selfies and messages of thanks when they found them that it’s been a thoroughly rewarding experience. And helped me feel less isolated through the madness that was lockdown.

If you’re ever around the southend area I hope that you manage to find yourself one!

What hobbies do you have that help you feel more connected to the world? Let me know in the comments I would love to hear about them 😊

Have a nice day! 😃
