Aerial photography is an all-time favorite of mine. In this shot, I take to the sky over the Sonoran desert…
The Sonoran Desert is an awe-inspiring tapestry of life, shaped by the interplay of sun, sand, and stone. Stretching across southern Arizona, southeastern California, and parts of Mexico, it is one of the most biodiverse deserts on Earth. Towering saguaro cacti reach skyward like ancient sentinels, the rugged mountain ranges rise abruptly from flat desert plains; and ephemeral wildflowers burst into brilliant blooms after rare rains, carpeting the landscape in vibrant colors.
The desert is alive with life, from the shy Gila monster to the graceful roadrunner, and the haunting call of a coyote under a star-filled sky. The heat by day feels otherworldly, while the cool nights are filled with the soothing hum of crickets and the occasional rustle of nocturnal creatures.
The Sonoran Desert invites you to look closer, to appreciate its subtle beauty and its resilience—a reminder that even in the harshest conditions, life thrives in spectacular ways.
