Why is it that when we party, we meet up friends then Alcohol becomes one important part of the party and meets. I will not say that it happens all the time, but yes it happens to a large extent, specially from the place that I come from. Mumbai city is loaded with clubs and restaurants and majority of them serve alcohol. House parties are never complete without alcohol. I also drink, but then I always wonder, if I have a party without the alcohol, how is it going to be? Comparatively much sober. As weekend arrives, friends say, let's meet up over drinks. All this has become a fashion. Not to deny, I have also been a part of it. But lately, I have just been feeling not right about it, and I avoid consuming it in most of the parties. My friends keep trying to convince me to have, but I take my stand.
Specially, in parties when we start to drink, it never ends at 1 drink, it can go up to 2 or 3 or more also. This is surely a problem that I see. It definitely gives a good mood to the party and everyone gets into high spirits but then what about the health? As much as I too enjoy consuming it, especially Wine. I am making it a habit to not have it in parties or even weekend outings. I prefer to stick to my glass of water. If I feel like, then on any normal day when me and hubby are just by ourself I have a glass of wine with him. Which now I am making it a point to not go beyond once a week. That also sounds too much to me.
I do want to improve all my food habits and this is the one that I need to strongly work on myself. Alcohol is very addicting and you do enjoy the tipsiness that it gives but then looking at the adverse effects it gives on the health, it is surely necessary to ponder upon these habits. In parties if you do not drink, people find it strange. And now as I take a step behind from these scenes, I feel it strange to watch people consuming it so much without any guilt of what they are doing to their health. Yes, actually, I do feel a guilt if I have it, because I know very well, that by doing so I am abusing my health.
While this is one set of people, there are many who never consume it and still enjoy life equally and I do have a lot of respect for these people provided they are not abusing their body in any other ways. Because that would not make any sense. Even consuming it in moderation is not good. A lot of people have this theory that consuming it in moderation is good for health. The truth is that in every way it is destructive for health. It's just that certain ones have a lesser impact than the others.
