Hello everyone π,
Happy hump day ππ and a very warm welcome to my world π. As always glad you stopped by. Hopefully you have had or are having a great dayπ―. I am definitely grateful for this day and as it draws to a close, it's time to take a peek into how my stepping went and also share some of the trending stories I came across. Come on, let's take it away π¨.
So as usual I had two major walks just like yesterday, starting off with the fast paced brisk walk around the neighbourhood. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores and a little bit of resting. The afternoon saw me walk to the shopping centre for some groceries. As always I squeezed in my usual nap before the evening set in. Then it was time for the slow paced evening walk enjoying the cool evening breezeπ. Meanwhile in between the day I had been watching the trending stories on the news and also a little bit of crypto/twitter. let's dive into that next
Locally, the usual political shenanigans πΉ kept going, in parliament voting on the rather controversial finance bill took place, most people are opposed to the mandatory housing levyπ.
Globally, Greece trending as a migrant boat carrying over 700 people sunk at the southern coast.
The boat had set off from Libya and was headed to Italy. A tragedy as 78 bodies were recoverd, hundreds more feared dead π. The migrants were mostly from Egypt, Syria and Pakistan. Rescue efforts are ongoing but strong winds are hampering the rescue operation.
Milan also trending as a state funeral was held for former PM Silvio Berlusconi who passed away a few days back. Thousands gathered to pay tribute.
Then in Strasbourg, EU MP's voted on a landmark bill to regulate AI and make sure it's used for safe and ethical purposes. The Ai Act will become law in 2025.
Let's go to the middle east, Israel trending as parliament moved on with the judicial overhaul debate despite public anger that has been going on over the last few months.
Close by in Lebanon, political shenanigans as politicians failed to elect a president for the 12th timeπΉ. Lebanon badly needs a president to select a govt who can immediately work on the ailing economy.
Across the pond in the US, Miami mayor, Suarez has announced his bid for the presidency next year. It's getting crowded in thereπΉ.
Finally, the US federal reserve voted unanimously to leave key interest rates unchanged at 5 to 5.25%. It is the first pause since rates were raised ten times in March 2022 in an effort to fight inflation. Crypto prices dumped a little but in the long run, stable interest rates are good for the marketπ―, let's wait and see as projections are for higher prices in the coming months.
Anyways, do check me out yet again tomorrow on an amazing throwback Thursday βΊοΈ. Until then keep stepping and enjoying yourselves to the max π―.
So that's it for today, stay safe, take care and adios πππ. Hakuna Matata π.
