Hello everyone π,
Happy Thursday π and a very warm welcome to my world π.As always I am so grateful for this day, the very first one of June. It's been wonderful stepping it out π―, now that it's almost bedtime π€ let's quickly take a look at how my day has been and also share some of the trending stories. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away π¨.
So I started the day with lots of brisk walking around the neighbourhood, today was a little warmer than yesterday which motivated me to keep going. Then I was back indoors for some resting and some of the little household chores here and there. Later in the afternoon I had to get something to cook from the shopping centre. Then back home I squeezed in the usual nap before the evening set in. Next came the slow paced evening walking session enjoying the cool breezeπ.Throughout the day I have been following up on the trending news, that's next.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans πΉ kept going. Today was independence day marking 60 years since we kicked out the oppressive British regime. They did the most, killed our people and stole many of our resourcesπ‘.
Senegal trending as police clashed with supporters of the opposition leader Ousmane Sonko who was sentenced to 2 years in jail for corrupting youthsπ. This makes him ineligible to stand for next year's election. His supporters say it's all politically motivated by the current president. Politics is a dirty gameπΉ
Globally, Ukraine trending as kyiv came under attack. They intercepted and shot down most of the missiles.
Across the border in Moldova, the EPC summit was underway with many European leaders in attendance. President Zelensky addressed them, pressing for Ukraine to join NATO and also the EU. Either that or Russia will stop at nothing and will occupy the whole countryπ.
Across the pond in the US, senators are racing to approve a crucial bill lifting the debt ceiling ahead of the Monday deadline. The country could dip into a recession and global markets would suffer too. Let's hope it will be done before Mondayπ―.
Down in the south, Chile trending as a big copper smelter was shut down after years of lots of pollution. A good thing for nearby residentsπ―.
Let's finish in Jordan, there was a royal wedding as prince Hussein married a prominent Saudi architect ππ. Many VIPs attended including prince William and Kate of the UK and first lady Jill Biden.
So that's it, do check me out yet again tomorrow on an amazing high five Friday π. Until then keep stepping and enjoying yourselves to the max π―. Nothing much to add but bid you adieu πππ Take care, Hakuna Matata.
