Hello everyone π»,
Happy Sunday π and a very warm welcome to my report. Hopefully your weekend is gone well, we are bang in the middle of December as the holiday season kicks in. I hope we are all grateful and counting our blessingsπ―.
Let's quickly proceed to breakdown how the day has been including the trending stories. You definitely know the drill, come on π¨.
So I began my day with a little bit of stretching then I was out for a walk, actually at the city center, I was going to see the Christmas tree imported from Norway, I think it looks better at night when all lit up. I should be able to go back there soon.
It was quite chilly and cloudy βοΈ as I made my way. .
Later I was back indoors handling the usual house chores. Then settled down to some you tube videos and trending stories. A little bit of EPL games here and there, Man united are on fire, they gave it to Man city really goodπΉ.
My final walk was the slow paced sunset π walk around the neighborhood ending up at the park π². It was actually late afternoon spilling into evening
So now let's turn our attention to the trending stories.
As usual another horrendous bloody day in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes killed at least 60 Palestinians across the strip this SundayπΏ.
Among them a Palestinian journalist and Gaza Defence workers killed in the airstrikes.
Meanwhile more Israeli airstrikes hit Syriaπ. Israel says that immediate threats still remain after the fall of the Assad regime.
They have been bombing warehouses storing weapons and other military facilities.
Israeli govt also taking advantage of the situation by approving settlement expansion in Syrian Golan heightsπ.
Also trending, UN envoy to Syria has arrived in Damascus as the new transitionary govt starts it's work on the way forward after Assad.
Soldiers of the Assad regime gathered in Hama seeking info on what's next for them.
Meanwhile schools across the country reopened as normal life is returning to Damascus.
In the UK, foreign secretary, Lammy said the UK govt was in contact with Syrian rebels , this as the govt announced Β£50 million of humanitarian aid for Syria.
Also trending in Europe, Israel is set to close its embassy in Irelandπ. This after Ireland earlier recognized an independent Palestinian state and also backed South Africa's case at the Hague against Israel.
Ireland still maintaining they condemn the everyday killing of innocent Palestinians.
Finally, Pope Francis made history today with the first ever papal visit to French island of Corsica. Corsica is the birth place of Napoleon.
It was one of the briefest stop of his papacy beyond Italy's borders, just nine hours on the ground, including a 40 minute visit with French president Emmanuel Macron.
So that's it from me today, see you again tomorrow on an awesome Monday. Until then stay safe, take care and cheerioβ€οΈ. Hakuna Matata π»π―
