Hello everyone π»,
Happy Thursday π and a very warm welcome to my report. It's been another ordinary day stepping it out and it's now time to slow down and report on how my day went. Of course not forgetting the trending stories that caught my eye π.
So without much further ado let's get into that and more π¨.
So I began my day with a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Pretty sunny π and beautiful morning as I made my way
I guess spring has sprungππΉ
Later on after about 20 or so minutes, I was back indoors getting on with the usual house chores.
Next I looked at some of the trending stories and also watched a bit of you tube and Twitter.
The sun πcontinued to shine all through the afternoon
In the evening it was cloudy as I left for my sunset π walk. I did a few rounds in the neighbourhood before heading back indoors
I made it back safe and sound and have been watching the news and just relaxingπΉ.
So let's proceed to look at some of the trending stories.
Starting off in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas have killed 38 Palestinians. I don't know if ceasefire talks are still going on or what is happening. However, the situation remains dire as WFP warns that Gaza will run out of food in two weeksπΏ.
Israel continues to block food, fuel and medicine/supplies from enteringπ.
In the other war, Russia launched 86 drones on Ukraine targeting the cities of Kharkiv and Dniproπ.
Meanwhile European leaders including Zelensky were hosted in Paris by Macron. Europe says it will continue to stand with Ukraine and sanctions against Russia will not be lifted. Further, frozen Russia assets will be used as part of reconstruction in Ukraine and if need be, other countries in Europe could provide troops on the ground in Ukraineπ―.
Across the pond, Trump's 25% tariff on car imports is having a major impact on the global economy. Stocks of most automakers fell sharply on this announcement. Canada the largest exporter of cars to the US will lose billions off its GDPπ.
Other countries that export vehicles to US like Mexico, Germany, South Korea and Japan likely to lose too
Canadian PM says Canada won't be bullied to be the 51st stateπΉ
Meanwhile, Nuuk, Greenland trending as US vice president JD Vance lands there tomorrow. Remember Trump wants Greenland too, according to him, whether they accept it or notπΉ.
Meanwhile, Trump is targeting university students who write articles or openly show support for Hamas. One such PhD student from Tufts University was arrested and detained. Her student visa cancelled and she will likely be deported back to her home in TurkeyπΏ. She isn't the only one, others too are in detention in Louisianaπ.
I wonder what happened to freedom of speech in the land of the freeπΉ.
So that was Thursday and I thank you for reading. Let's hook up tomorrow on a high five Friday as we look forward to the weekend.
Stay safe, take care and good bye β€οΈ. Hakuna Matata π»
