So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. That fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. Then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto and youtube. My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some fruits and veggies. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, nothing much happening except the usual political shenanigans 😹.
On the continent, Nigeria trending as over 130 children that had been kidnapped were reunited with their families.
In Senegal, the newly elected president, I forget his name😹, was at the presidential palace meeting outgoing president Marky Sall.
Globally, a devastating day in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes kept going. In the south 22 people killed in an airstrike in Khan Younis😿.
In Gaza city, 17 killed when Israel struck a residential building.
There was also a strike in north Gaza that destroyed a mosque🙀.
More Israeli airstrikes hit Lebanon and Syria as Israel targeted Hezbollah fighters. 40 killed including a top commander😿.
Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant, says forces will expand campaign against Hezbollah. He added that Israel would turn from defending itself to actively pursuing Hezbollah wherever they operate🙀.
Meanwhile Israeli PM Netanyahu, has approved new talks on Gaza ceasefire. An Israeli delegation will head to Doha, Qatar and Cairo, Egypt where the talks will go on in the next few days.
Let's go to Europe, where Russia has attacked Ukraine's power grid. Hitting a few power stations but most of the rockets were intercepted.
In response Ukraine attacked the Russian town of Belgorod.
Still in Russia, a new arrest happened in the Moscow shooting. Most of the suspects are of Tajikistan origin. Nine more people are detained in Tajikistan in relation to that deadly attack.
Across the pond in the US, president Biden says he is working to free US journalist jailed by Russia a year ago. It's gonna be tough because he is accused of spying😿.
Finally, there's nature's spectacle in Iceland as the southwestern volcano 🌋 erupts amidst the northern lights display. It's fiery orange jets of lava amidst the green sky. Wow.
