Hello everyone π»,
Happy Monday πHappy New Year and a very warm welcome to my report. We are onto a new week and I have been feeling upbeat even as we firmly move past the holiday season.
I began my day with the usual morning walk around the neighborhood. A heavily cloudy day as I made my way, and cold π₯Ά too.
Next came the house chores and then later onto the trending stories from x and you tube.
The day continued to be cloudy up until the evening when I set out for the sunset π walk.
I walked around the neighbourhood and park before heading back home and calling it a day.So now let's take a quick look at what has been happening around the world π.Starting off in Gaza, 48 Palestinians killed in various Israeli airstrikes across the stripπΏ. A convoy of World Food Programme vehicles came under Israeli fire even though they are well labelled.
Not far off, Syria trending as US eased some sanctions. US Treasury has issued a general license for Syria that authorizes govt and energy transactions. It allows continuity of governance functions in Syria including electricity and energy.
A good move as ordinary citizens need electricity working well if the economy has to be improved. However, other key restrictions still remain in place as the west continues to watch this new administrationπΉ.
In the other war, Russians in the Kursk region are shaken as Ukraine launched a new offensiveπ.
Trending in the UK, PM Keir Starmer has attacked those spreading lies on grooming gangs as he hit back at Elon musk. Elon has been on the offensive about UK govt on his x platformπΉ.
In France, former president Nicolas Sarkozy was back in court facing corruption charges, could face up to a decade behind bars if convictedπ.
Across the pond, US Congress has certified Trump election win. Kamala Harris over saw the proceedings and declared Trump the winner.
Quite a different story, when Trump lost he advised Mike Pence not to certify Biden back thenπΉ.
Not far off, Canada trending as PM Justin Trudeau said he plans to resign after nearly ten years in power. He is citing internal battles in the governing party. Political shenanigans indeedπΉ.
He says once the party chooses a replacement he will step down. Parliament remains suspended until 24th March.
Finally in crazy weather, cold π₯Ά temperatures expected for the remainder of the week, bringing the risk of snow, showers, ice and frost to many parts of the UKπ.
Similar situation in parts of the US. I saw jubilant people in Washington engaged in a snowball fightπΉ.
Then it's raining in the desert, Saudi Arabia hit by heavy rains causing flooding around Mecca areaπ.
Let's hope everyone stays safe and warm, all's well that ends well π―.
So that's about it from me, see you again tomorrow on a fiery tree π² Tuesday.
Until then stay safe, take care and good bye β€οΈ. Hakuna Matata π»π―
