I took a day off today to recharge my batteries a bit.
Since I want to increase my muscle mass and shed the remaining belly fat, I chose cycling instead of my usual 8 km run, as it keeps my heart rate lower.
On a whim, I decided to set my destination as Szentendre, a small town by the Danube River with a wonderful atmosphere, popular among both local and foreign tourists.
The distance from my apartment in Budapest is about 26 km. Google estimated the ride to take 1 hour and 37 minutes, but I managed to complete it 10 minutes faster at a comfortable pace. The bike path runs along the Danube from about halfway.
The weather was excellent, only 28-30 degrees Celsius, unlike last week when it was consistently over 35 degrees. On the way there, I took some photos, and upon arrival, I took a walk and rewarded myself with a cheese-and-sour-cream lángos (Hungarian traditional food) and a beer while chatting with a friendly Canadian family. Okay, not a diet food, but since I still had the return trip ahead of me, I had no guilt at all.
According to my watch, I burned about 1300 calories on the trip.
