Melting Steel Beams: Wednesday August 7 2024

in actifit •  last month

Mixed weather today. Some sunshine and some rain. The temperatures are quite mild, though, so it's not been getting too humid at least.

The railroad construction along my walking route seems as good as done, but today I noticed one final step in the process.

During the construction the rails themselves had been cut approximately every 50 meters. Now they've come in to weld them back together.

As far as I know this is being done through a thermite reaction. I even found some remnants of what I believe to be a temporary crucible or a casing thing made from some sandy material.

I probably wouldn't even know what thermite is if 9/11 hadn't happened. I'm not saying there was thermite used to collapse the towers, but I do find it hard to believe that kerosene and an office fire will melt steel beams... 🤷

aaaanyways...

Thanks for your time!
