What do you base your decisions on when it comes to voting?

I upvote for a few reasons. Good content is the main reason. I will upvote content that I do not even agree with as I am a free speech advocate. Good content for me is people sharing their lives and experiences. Posting original poems, songs, short stories, art and so on. Writing views and opinions about current events. Again, I may or may not agree with that opinion. I will still upvote it. I also like to upvote contests and engagement style posts. I believe they are good for the platform.

Content that I do not like to upvote is, oh how do I describe it, the cookie cutter blog posts that give advice, motivation, etc. You know, the Dear Abbey kind of stuff that the writer gets from other sources rather than their own brain. I will upvote such posts if I think the writer is truly expressing their own ideas rather than ideas they saw on line and just put into their own words. I don't know any other way to describe it. I find those posts empty, disingenuous, and annoying. Maybe others love those and it's just me, LOL.

Sometimes I will upvote because I like the person. An emotional reason. There are some very good people on here of good character. An asset to their community. Really nice good people. Do not get me wrong. None of these folks write junk posts. But they might post a very short post here and there. Something I generally would overlook. I will upvote to support the person. That's a good way to put it. Supporting the person and encouraging that person.

The final reason I will upvote is I love Memes! Just love em! Even if the author is just sharing what was found online. This is my weakness. I upvote folks who post not one meme (unless it's truly awesome or original) found online to share but a page full. I will upvote that. Political Memes work. Mocking works. I have seen policies change due to it . For example, Disinformation Governance Board 'paused' after just 3 weeks So, I am doing my part by upvoting and encouraging Memes on the platform.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
