21st February 1952 is a memorable day in the history of Bangladesh. Our mother tongue is Bengali. And for this Bengali language, a march was held in front of Dhaka University on February 21, 1952. Section 144 was issued to stop this march, but then the student community ignored section 144 and raised slogans saying they want Bengali as their mother tongue. The Pakistani government police attacked the march and shot and killed many students.

Bangladesh fought against Pakistan in 1971 because of this Bengali language. Pakistan was saying that it wanted Urdu as the state language. And Bangladesh was saying that it wanted Bengali as its national language. The battle for this language began. After nine long months, Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan and Bengali became the national language.

About three million people were killed by the Pakistani invaders fighting for the Bengali language. Finally get independence of Bangladesh. I express gratitude to all the martyrs. It is for them that we got back our country and mother tongue.
