Hi Blurtians,
I apologize for the delay in releasing the Blurt blockchain data for the month of February. The preparation of the update for the BeBlurt dApp version 0.4.0 took much longer than expected due to the complexity of the new features it introduces. For more information on this update, please read this post: BEBLURT | v0.4.0 | Search bar, drafts, posts scheduler, accounts switcher....
In this post, we'll be taking a closer look at the Blurt blockchain data for the month of February 2023, compared to the months of January 2023 and December 2022.
In February 2023, the block producers, who are also known as "witnesses" on the Blurt blockchain, had the responsibility of generating 793,834 blocks. This is slightly less than the previous month due to February having only 28 days.
The witnesses are elected by the community through voting so you can show your support by casting your vote at https://beblurt.com/witnesses to give a better ranking to your favorite witness(es) ;)
Please keep in mind that there were only 28 days in February!
Transactions & Operations
In February, the witnesses' blocks recorded 264,550 transactions and 281,481 operations (with one transaction potentially containing multiple operations).

Comparing the daily averages of transactions and operations for February 2023, January 2023, and December 2022, we can observe the following trends:
In February, the daily average of transactions was 9,448.21 (264,550 transactions ÷ 28 days), compared to 9,292.74 (288,075 transactions ÷ 31 days) in January and 8,682.19 (269,148 transactions ÷ 31 days) in December. This shows a slight increase in the number of transactions per day in February compared to previous months.
On the other hand, the daily average of operations in February was 10,052.89 (281,481 operations ÷ 28 days), compared to 9,881.58 (306,329 operations ÷ 31 days) in January and 9,249.74 (286742 operations ÷ 31 days) in December. Here too, we observe an increase in the daily average of operations in February compared to previous months.
In summary, by comparing the daily averages of transaction and operation data, we can see that February 2023 saw a slight increase in the number of transactions and operations compared to previous months.
Posts & Replies
Let's get to the heart of the matter! Were there more or less posts this February 2023? Was there more or less engagement through comments?

In February, the number of posts on Blurt decreased by 7.617% compared to the previous month, dropping from 15,006 in January to 13,863 in February. Similarly, the number of comments decreased by 14.39%, dropping from 14,955 in January to 12,803 in February.
To consolidate the data taking into account the difference in the number of days between January and February, it is necessary to calculate the daily averages of posts and comments for each month.
In January, there were on average 484.06 posts per day (15,006/31 days) and 482.41 comments per day (14,955/31 days). In February, there were on average 495.1 posts per day (13,863/28 days) and 457.25 comments per day (12,803/28 days).
By comparing the daily averages, it can be seen that the number of posts increased by 2.28% (495.1/484.06-1) in February compared to January, while the number of comments decreased by 5.215% (457.25/482.41-1) during the same period.
It is important to note that despite the decrease in the number of comments in February, the daily average of comments remains higher than in December (13,395/31 days = 432.09 comments per day).
This suggests that the decrease in activity observed in February may not be a widespread trend, but may be attributed to specific factors such as school holidays or seasonal events.
Authors
What about the number of unique authors on the Blurt blockchain? As the graph shows, in February, 892 unique bloggers posted on the Blurt blockchain. This represents a slight decrease from January, when 918 bloggers posted, and a slight increase from December, when 861 bloggers posted.

Authors Rewards
Regarding the authors' rewards, there is a decrease of about 70,000 BLURT compared to the previous month.

There were 105,825 BLURT less in February compared to December, and 65,417 BLURT less compared to the previous month.
This month's Top 5 authors (in rewards) are:
- 20,759.225 BLURT : @hangin with 134 posts & replies
- 16,101.57 BLURT : @andrianna with 70 posts & replies
- 15,723.396 BLURT : @drutter with 152 posts & replies
- 15,383.923 BLURT : @yakubenko with 68 posts & replies
- 14,007.182 BLURT : @globetrottergcc with 60 posts & replies
@hangin takes the first place, while @yakubenko and @globetrottergcc enter the ranking. At the same time, @offgridlife and @cleanenergygarro leave the ranking.
I would also like to remind you that on the BeBlurt dApp, you can find this information on the user dashboard as explained in this post: BEBLURT | Update v0.3.0 | Blurtian Analytics Dashboard
Curators Rewards
I would like to take advantage of this section to add an element that is totally omitted, even though it has a great impact on the rewards in what I have read lately.
The "reward_curve" coefficient has an impact on the amount of rewards that are awarded when a user votes for a post on the BLURT blockchain. Specifically, this coefficient determines the shape of the vote rewards curve, which means that the higher the coefficient, the greater the reward for the first votes, but it decreases rapidly thereafter. Conversely, if the coefficient is lower, the reward will be more evenly distributed among all votes.
Now, it will be interesting to know the value of the "reward_curve" for Blurt :)

This month's Top 5 curators (in rewards) are:
323,385.894 BLURT : @blurtbooster with 3172 upvotes
155,031.527 BLURT : @upvu with 1287 upvotes
116,621.612 BLURT : @ctime with 9248 upvotes
40,695.112 BLURT : @mmmmkkkk311 with 865 upvotes
22,371.158 BLURT : @mariuszkarowski with 981 upvotes
@mariuszkarowski enters while @saboin leaves the ranking
Beneficiaries Rewards
The Beneficiary Rewards on the Blurt blockchain refer to a system where a portion of the rewards generated from a post or comment on the platform is allocated to a designated beneficiary account. This beneficiary account can be any account on the Blurt blockchain that the author of the post or comment chooses to support.
When a user creates content on Blurt, they have the option to designate a beneficiary account and set a percentage of the rewards that they would like to allocate to that account. The beneficiary account can be any Blurt account (their own account, another user, community, dApp/frontend)
Once the post or comment is published, the rewards are distributed among the author and any designated beneficiaries according to the percentage set by the author. This allows authors to support other users, communities, or dApp/frontend they believe deserve recognition and rewards for their contributions to the platform.
The Beneficiary Rewards system is intended to encourage engagement and collaboration among users on the Blurt blockchain, and to foster a culture of generosity and support. It is also a way for authors to demonstrate their appreciation for the work of others on the platform.

We can see in the graph by qty below a nice adoption curve of the BeBlurt frontend application. Therefore, I take this opportunity to thank all those who have already tested the new features, and especially those who have already tested the scheduler for the publication of their posts. A big thank you also for your participation via the 3% beneficiaries to the development of the project.
Frontends / dApps
No major changes in the use of the different frontends, which remains rather stable.

New Accounts
If we take into account the 28 days of February, the number of accounts created seems to remain stable after its growth in January with an average of 3.32 (93/28) accounts created per day in February against 3.80 (118/31) in January and 2.03 (63/31) in December.

Power Up / Down
February saw a significant increase in Power Up of 330,662 BLURT but at the same time a much more significant increase in Power Down with 1,488,145 BLURT.

Transfer from & to Exchanges
To Exchanges
After a surge in January, BLURT transfers from accounts to Hive-Engine have now settled back to their December levels. However, it is important to note that Probit, the only exchange for BLURT acknowledged by CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap, is still maintaining a similar trading volume as seen in January.

Delta from/to Exchanges
In February, there has been a negative delta for all exchanges, indicating a decrease compared to the previous month. However, it is worth noting that the total transfer amount for February, which is -1,623,895.47 BLURT, is close to the total transfer amount for January, which was -1,594,179.8 BLURT.
